Arc melting is an electric thermal metallurgical method that uses electrical energy to generate an arc between electrodes or between electrodes and the melted material to melt metals. Electric arcs can be generated by direct current or alternating current. When using alternating current, there will be a momentary zero voltage between the two electrodes. In the case of vacuum melting, due to the low gas density between the two electrodes, it is easy to cause the arc to extinguish, so DC power supply is generally used for vacuum arc melting. It is mainly used to melt active and high melting point metals such as titanium, zirconium, molybdenum, tantalum, niobium, and their alloys, as well as alloy steels such as heat-resistant steel, stainless steel, tool steel, and bearing steel. The gas and volatile impurities content of the metal melted decreases, and the ingot generally does not have central looseness. The crystallization of the ingot is more uniform, and the metal properties are improved. The highest temperature in the atmosphere is 3500 degrees Celsius.

If necessary, the vacuum suction casting function and magnetic stirring function of the furnace sample can be realized, and the mechanical arm can be manually controlled to stir the furnace material during the melting process.
