The process of causing oxidation-reduction reactions on the anode and cathode by passing current through an electrolyte solution is called electrolysis. The device that converts electrical energy into chemical energy is called an electrolytic cell or electrolyzer. The principle of electrolysis is that when ions reach the electrode, they lose or gain electrons and undergo redox reactions.
Cathode: An electrode connected to the negative pole of a power source. Anode: An electrode connected to the positive electrode of a power source. (Oxidation reaction occurs)
The reaction conditions
1. Connect the DC power supply;
2. Cathode of anode and cathode: connected to the negative pole of the power supply as cathode anode: connected to the positive pole of the power supply as anode;
3. The two poles are in electrolyte solution or molten electrolyte;
4. Two electrodes form a closed circuit.
