The Seahorse Energy Metabolism Analysis System is a technology platform based on live cell metabolism detection, mainly used to monitor the energy metabolism status of cells. It has the characteristics of label free, real-time dynamic, and high sensitivity, and is an important detection method for cell energy metabolism research. The core detection parameters include oxygen consumption rate (OCR) and extracellular acidification rate (ECAR), which reflect mitochondrial respiratory function and glycolytic activity, respectively. OCR refers to the rate at which cells consume oxygen. Cells are placed in specific oxygen consuming reagents and their OCR is calculated by measuring changes in dissolved oxygen content in the surrounding culture medium, further evaluating mitochondrial respiratory function. ECAR refers to the extracellular acidification rate, in which cells are placed in a specific acidification reagent and the changes in pH in the culture medium are measured to calculate ECAR and evaluate the metabolic adaptability of cells under stress.
