Limit switch, also known as travel switch, can be installed on relatively stationary objects (such as fixed frames, door frames, etc., referred to as static objects) or moving objects (such as vehicles, doors, etc., referred to as animals). When an animal approaches a still object, the connecting rod of the switch drives the contact of the switch to open or close the closed contact. Control the circuit and motor by changing the on/off state of the switch contacts.
A limit switch is an electrical switch used to limit the maximum movement position of mechanical equipment. Limit switches come in both contact and non-contact types. The contact type is more intuitive. On the moving parts of mechanical equipment, a travel switch is installed, and a limit position stopper is installed on the fixed point of relative motion, or installed in the opposite position. When the mechanical contact of the travel switch touches the stopper, it cuts off (or changes) the control circuit, and the machine stops running or changes its operation. Due to the inertial motion of machinery, this type of travel switch has a certain degree of "overtravel" to protect the switch from damage. There are many non-contact forms, such as reed switches, photoelectric switches, induction switches, etc., which can be seen in elevators. Of course, there are more excellent forms.
Limit switch is a commonly used low current main control device. By using the collision of moving parts in production machinery to make their contacts move, the control circuit can be connected or disconnected to achieve certain control objectives. Usually, such switches are used to limit the position or stroke of mechanical motion, causing the moving machinery to automatically stop, reverse, change speed, or automatically move back and forth at a certain position or stroke.
In electrical control systems, the function of limit switches is to achieve sequential control, positioning control, and detection of position status. Used for controlling the travel and limit protection of mechanical equipment. Construction: Composed of an operating head, contact system, and housing.
In actual production, limit switches are installed in pre arranged positions. When the module installed on the moving parts of the production machinery collides with the travel switch, the contact of the limit switch is activated to switch the circuit. Therefore, a travel switch is an electrical device that switches circuits based on the travel position of moving parts, and its working principle is similar to that of a button.
Limit switches are widely used in various types of machine tools and lifting machinery to control their travel and provide terminal limit protection. In the control circuit of the elevator, the travel switch is also used to control the speed of opening and closing the car door, the limit of automatic door opening and closing, and the upper and lower limit protection of the car.
There are many applications of limit switches, and they can be found in many electrical appliances. What can such a simple switch do? It mainly plays a role in chain protection. The most common example is its application in washing machines and recorders (video recorders).
During the dehydration (spin drying) process of the washing machine, the speed is very high. If someone accidentally opens the door or cover of the washing machine and then extends their hand in, it is easy to cause injury to people. In order to avoid such accidents, an electrical contact is installed on the door or cover of the washing machine. Once someone opens the door or cover of the washing machine, the motor will be automatically cut off, and even mechanical linkage will be used to immediately "brake" the rotating parts as soon as the door or cover is opened, forcing them to stop and avoid personal injury.
In tape recorders and video recorders, we often use fast forward or rewind, where the tape rotates rapidly but automatically stops when it reaches the end of the tape. The travel switch once again played a role here, but this time it was not caused by collision but by the sudden increase in tension of the magnetic tape that triggered the action.
Limit switches are mainly used to convert mechanical displacement into electrical signals, allowing the operating state of the motor to be changed, thereby controlling mechanical actions or used for program control.
The true application of limit switches is in industry, where they are combined with other equipment to form more complex automation devices.
There are many limit switches on the machine tool that control the movement of the workpiece or the automatic feed stroke to avoid collision accidents. Sometimes limit switches are used to automatically reverse the direction of the controlled object between two specified positions, resulting in continuous reciprocating motion. For example, when the automatic material transport car reaches the end point and hits the limit switch, the overturning mechanism is turned on, and the materials in the car are overturned and returned to the starting point. After reaching the starting point, he touched the travel switch at the starting point, connected the circuit of the loading mechanism, and started automatic loading. If it continues like this, it becomes an automated production line that doesn't require human supervision and works day and night, saving people's physical labor.

The WTAU series limit switch consists of a large transmission ratio reducer, a mechanical memory control mechanism synchronized with its output shaft, and sensors. Due to its small size, multiple functions, high accuracy, adjustable limit, strong versatility, and easy maintenance, installation, and adjustment, it is widely used in construction machinery.
Limit switches are divided into working limit switches and limit limit switches. Working limit switches are used to provide signals for the mechanism to move in place. The limit switch is designed to prevent accidents caused by mechanism actions exceeding the design range. The working limit switch is installed at the position where the mechanism needs to change the working conditions. After the switch is activated, it gives a signal and performs other related actions. The limit switch is installed at the far end of the mechanism to protect it from damage caused by excessive movement.
Limit switch refers to a switch assembled inside a casing to protect the built-in micro switch from damage caused by external forces, water, oil, gas, dust, etc. It is particularly suitable for places with special requirements for mechanical strength and environmental adaptability. The shape can be roughly divided into horizontal, vertical, and composite types. The following diagram illustrates the construction of a typical vertical limit switch. A limit switch is generally composed of five constituent elements.
■ Built in micro switch drive mechanism
For limit switches, the driving mechanism of micro switches is an important part directly related to sealing performance and action characteristics. Its structure is divided into three categories, as shown in the table below.
⑴ Piston type
According to different sealing methods, there are two types listed in the table: Type A and Type B. Type A is sealed with O-rings or thin films. Due to the lack of exposed sealing rubber, it has a better function in resisting cutting debris from working machinery. However, its negative impact is that it may compress sand, cutting powder, and other materials into the sliding surface of the piston. Although Type B does not compress sand or cutting powder, and has better sealing performance than Type A, it may damage the rubber cap due to the splashing of hot cutting debris. Therefore, type A or type B should be selected according to the different usage locations. And the plunger type still compresses or sucks in air through the reciprocating motion of the plunger. Therefore, if the plunger is pressed in for a long time, the compressed air inside the limit switch will escape, and the internal pressure will be the same as atmospheric pressure. Even if the plunger is eager to reset, it tends to reset slowly. In order to avoid such malfunctions, the compression amount of air is controlled within 20% of the total air volume inside the limit switch based on the pressure of the plunger during design. In addition, to extend the lifespan of the micro switch, an OT absorption mechanism is installed inside this structure, which uses an OT absorption spring to absorb the residual stroke of the plunger. The mechanism stops pressing the micro switch halfway to assist in the stroke of the plunger relative to its movement.
⑵ hinge pendulum type
At the end of the swing rod (ball), the stroke of the plunger increases proportionally with the swing rod, so the OT absorption mechanism is generally not used.
⑶ Rotating pendulum type
Give a typical example to illustrate the construction of WL, but in addition, there are two types: the type that assigns the function of resetting the plunger to the plunger; The type that obtains the reset force through coil springs and drives the auxiliary plunger with a cam.

Gold Au has excellent corrosion resistance and is used for small loads. Because its texture is relatively soft (Vickers hardness HV25-65), it is easier to adhere (contact adhesion), and the contact is prone to indentation under high contact force.
Gold and silver alloys AuAg with 90% gold and 10% silver have excellent corrosion resistance and a hardness of HV30-90, which is higher than gold. Therefore, they are widely used in switches for small loads.
Platinum, gold, silver alloy PGS 69% gold, 25% silver, 6% platinum alloy has excellent corrosion resistance and the same hardness as gold silver alloy, widely used in switches for small loads. It is called "Alloy No. 1".
Silver and palladium alloys AgPd have good corrosion resistance, but they are more prone to adsorb organic gases and form polymers. In the case of 50% silver and 50% palladium, the hardness is HV100-200.
Silver Ag has high conductivity and thermal conductivity in metals. Although it exhibits low contact resistance, its disadvantage is that it is more prone to forming a sulfurized film in a sulfurized gas environment and prone to poor contact in small load areas. The hardness is HV25-45. Mostly used for general load switches.
Silver and nickel alloys AgNi with 90% silver and 10% nickel have conductivity similar to silver, and exhibit excellent resistance to arc and melting. The hardness is HV65-115.
Silver, indium, and tin alloys AgInSn have high hardness and melting point, excellent arc resistance, and are not easily melted or transferred.
The movable spring and movable plate spring are made of phosphor bronze C5210, which has excellent compressive ductility, fatigue resistance, and corrosion resistance. Annealing treatment has been carried out. If the critical value of the spring (Kb0.075) C5210-H is above 40kgf/mm2 and C5210-EH is above 47kgf/mm2, which is relatively low, it is widely used as a movable piece for small micro switches.
Beryllium copper for springs
(Time hardening treatment type) C1700 C1720 undergoes time hardening treatment after rolling processing. The conductivity is high, and after hardening treatment, if the critical value of the spring is(
Kb0.075) C1700-H is above 90kgf/mm2 and C1720-H is above 47kgf/mm2, which are very high and must be used for microswitches with high spring critical values.
When the spring is made of beryllium copper (mill hardened material) C1700- □ M C1720- □ M, the material manufacturer has already undergone age hardening treatment (known as Mill Harden material), and the parts do not require age hardening treatment after processing (rolling). If the critical value of the spring (Kb0.075) is above 65kgf/mm2 (reference value), it will be higher than the phosphor bronze used for springs and widely used as a movable spring for small micro switches.
Stainless steel (austenitic series) SUS301-CSP SUS304-CSP for springs has excellent corrosion resistance. The critical values (Kb0.075) for SUS301-CSP-H are above 50kgf/mm2 and SUS304-CSP-H are above 40kgf/mm2.
Shell, protective cap resin PF thermosetting resin. widely used
The shell material of the micro switch. The UL temperature index is 150 ℃, the UL flame retardant level is above 94V-1, and the water absorption rate is 0.1-0.3%. Micro switches often use ammonia free materials.
PBT resin PBTP thermoplastic resin. Fiberglass reinforced materials are commonly used as casing materials for micro switches. The UL temperature index is 130, the UL flame retardant level is above 94V-1, and the water absorption rate is 0.07-0.1.
PBT resin PETP thermoplastic resin. Fiberglass reinforced housing material for micro switches.
Polyamide (nylon) resin PA thermoplastic resin. Compared with PBT and PET, glass fiber reinforced materials have better heat resistance. Due to its high water absorption rate, please choose varieties with lower water absorption rates as much as possible. The UL temperature index is 180 ℃, the UL flame retardant level is above 94V-1, and the water absorption rate is 0.2-1.2.
Polyphenylene sulfide PPS thermoplastic resin. Compared to PA, its heat resistance is even better. The UL temperature index is 200 ℃, the UL flame retardant level is above 94V-1, and the water absorption rate is 0.1.
Aluminum (cast) ADC switch box is commonly used as the material for switch (box) boxes of limit switches. There are standards in JIS H5302.
Compared with aluminum castings, zinc (casting) ZDC is suitable for thinner parts and has better corrosion resistance. There are standards in JIS H5301.
The sealing rubber NBR has excellent oil resistance and is widely used in limit switches. According to the amount of bound nitrile, the grade of nitrile is divided into 5 categories, namely * (43% or more)
High (36-42%), medium high (31-35%), low (below 24%), slightly different in oil resistance, heat resistance, and cold resistance. The temperature range for use is -40 to 130 ℃.
Silicone SIR has excellent heat and cold resistance, with a temperature range of -70 to 280 ℃, but poor oil resistance.
Compared with nitrile butadiene and silicone, fluorinated rubber FRM has excellent heat resistance, cold resistance, and oil resistance. However, in terms of oil resistance, it may sometimes be worse than nitrile butadiene depending on the composition of the oil.
Chlorobutadiene rubber CR has good ozone resistance and weather resistance. Widely used in micro switches with special requirements for weather resistance.
