Precautions for using a nitrogen blower
The following is a brief introduction to the nine precautions in the detection process of nitrogen blowing instruments.
1. Take protective measures for your hands and face
During the sample heating process, if hot water splashes out from the waterproof bath and burns hands and eyes, it is necessary to take protective measures for hands and face before operation, such as wearing gloves and eye masks.
2. Ensure good ventilation
In order to prevent some vapors, gases, and particles (smoke, soot, dust, and suspensions) from being loaded into the instrument and affecting the accuracy of the experiment during operation, it is necessary to use fume hoods, hoods, or local ventilation methods to remove pollutants.
3. Do not move the nitrogen blower
Do not move the nitrogen blower during the experiment. The experimental instrument should be in a high-temperature heating state to prevent burns.
4. Use a three wire grounded power supply
The nitrogen blower has a high power output and requires a three wire grounded power supply to ensure electrical safety during use.
5. Do not open the water bath shell with electricity
During the experiment, the instrument is working with electricity, and leakage or electric shock accidents may occur due to the passage of substances in the waterproof bath, posing a danger. Please do not open the outer shell of the water bath with electricity.
6. Non professional personnel are prohibited from repairing instruments
The maintenance work of the nitrogen blower should be carried out by professionals, as its internal structure is extremely complex, and improper replacement of components may cause damage to the nitrogen blower or pose safety hazards.
7. Not suitable for detecting highly flammable substances
Highly flammable substances, such as petroleum ether, are prone to explosion under high-temperature heating tests, therefore, nitrogen blowers are not suitable for detecting highly flammable substances.
8. Do not use acidic or alkaline substances as heating media
Do not use organic solvents as heating media. Organic solvents are volatile and neurotoxic. Inhalation can cause dizziness, headache, insomnia, frequent dreaming, drowsiness, weakness, memory loss, loss of appetite, weight loss, sweating, emotional instability, accelerated or slowed heart rate, and other symptoms. It is best to use distilled water and deionized water as heating media, which is not only safe, but also can effectively prevent the formation of scale on the water bath wall.
9. Wash the water bath frequently
After the experiment is completed, adding a algaecide to the water in the water bath without heating can prevent biological contamination. Acidic algaecides should not be used, and it should be ensured that the algaecides used do not affect the samples to be processed. When in contact with or exposed to acidic materials, vapors, or samples, they should be cleaned immediately using moderate amountsNeutralize with NaHCO3 solution or other similar solution, then rinse with clean water. Long term exposure to acidic substances will damage the instrument. It is recommended to change the water in the water bath once a week, with a maximum of one month.
Instructions for using a nitrogen blower:
1. Preparation work
Before using the nitrogen blower, operators should be familiar with the engineering process and steps. Rapid concentration requires a balance between sample volume, nitrogen flow rate, water bath temperature, and needle position. Improper use can result in twice the result with half the effort, and even contaminate or cause sample loss; At the same time, attention should be paid to environmental conditions such as the degree of air pollution, nitrogen purity, and sample transportation process inside the fume hood.
2. Water bath operation
Turn on the water bath power switch;
Set the temperature of the water bath. Press the left button on the temperature setting display panel, and the upper row will show "SP". Press "∧" or "∨" again on the nitrogen blower to display the desired temperature value in the lower row. However, press the left button to return. Usually, the water bath temperature should be 2-3 ℃ lower than the boiling point temperature of the solvent.
