SRC solvent retention testerRelated introduction:
Eddy current mixer
Before connecting to the programmable timer, it is necessary to check the settings of the vortex mixer. Set the vortex mixer to 6 seconds, pulse mode, and then press the joystick switch to the on position.
Turn on the switch in the lower right corner, set it to 06 through the up and down arrows, and press the center invisible button to know if the pulse appears in the speed window.
Connect 4 vortex mixers to a power strip and keep it open, then insert the connecting wires into the programmable timer.
Programmable timer:
Check if the four vortex mixers are connected to programmable timers. Press' Channel Selection 'until the' Exit 'light flashes, set to a time of 4 minutes and 54 seconds. Press the 'Repeat' button and set it to 6 seconds.
The programmable timer will control the vortex mixer to stand still for 4 minutes and 54 seconds, and then mix for 6 seconds. It will repeat the above steps until it stops.
Centrifuge:
Run the centrifuge with the following settings:
1000g (first setting) for 15 minutes
23℃
ACC at 7, DEC at 6
Set as' Air '
Analysis Notice:
SRC solvent retention testerThe result report is based on a 14% wet basis. Therefore, the moisture content of flour must be determined before the final calculation and completion of the report.
Use 5% lactic acid, 50% sucrose, and 5% sodium carbonate to prepare the solvent required for analysis. SRC's AACC56-11.02 standard method specifies how to configure these solvents.
SRC Analysis - Sample Weighing:
Mark and weigh four 50ml plastic sample cans and record their weights separately.
Weigh 5g (+/-0.05gm) of flour separately into each sample tube. Record the final weight of each sample (to three decimal places) and cover the sample tube.
Add SRC solvent to their labeled sample tubes
Deionized water: 25 grams (25 milliliters)
5% sodium carbonate solution: 25g (=23.6ml)
5% Lactic Acid Solution: 25g (=24.6ml)
50% sucrose solution: 25 grams (=20.2 milliliters)
SRC Analysis - Oscillatory System:
Simultaneously turn on the alarm clock and programmable timer
Take two sample cans and place them on the bracket in the oscillation system. Close the safety door and press the start button. These two pipes will oscillate for 4 seconds. Then place these two pipes separately onto the brackets inside the two vortex mixers.
Take two more tubes and repeat the above steps
SRC Analysis - Vortex Mixer:
Allow programmable timers to control eddy current mixing samples four times, with each mixing lasting 5 minutes. When the 20 minute vortex mixing is completed, the alarm will sound.
Remove the four tubes from the vortex mixer and place them into the centrifuge.
SRC Analysis - Centrifuge:
Place the tubes into the centrifuge and symmetrically place them in pairs in the rotating drums (as shown in the figure on the right, at positions B and D, or A and C). If you centrifuge 8 tubes, you can place them in the remaining rotating drums, with two tubes per drum. *
The centrifugation time is set to 15 minutes because the entire centrifugation process requires an additional amount of time and 4 minutes of deceleration time for centrifugal acceleration.
When centrifugation is completed, the centrifuge will display "Run End".
Open the lid, carefully remove the pipe and place it on the pipe rack.
*Placing the pipes in different positions can affect the results, so you should place the pipes in the same position.
SRC analysis - static:
Open the sample tubes in numerical order, carefully pour out the liquid, but do not tap the tubes.
Then invert the tube onto a tissue and continue pouring the next tube.
After all the pipes have been poured, a 10 minute timer begins. After 10 minutes, cover all the pipes and place them back on the rack.
Weigh and record all covered pipes.
SRC Analysis - Calculation:
The following data needs to be entered into the corresponding column:
Sample ID Sample number
Actual moisture content of flour%
Weight of sample tube and lid (gm)
Weight of sample tube, lid, and flour (gm)
Weight of sample tube, cover and gel after water drainage (gm)
