Overview

The on-site rock drilling shear tester (commonly known as RBST) is a portable device used to measure the shear strength (cohesion C, internal friction angle φ) and deformation parameters of rock masses in situ in exploration boreholes. It can avoid indoor sample disturbance problems and is suitable for testing medium soft and jointed rock masses. Used to quickly test the shear force of rocks such as limestone, sandstone, shale, mudstone, coal, weathered rock, basalt, etc. at the survey site

Product Details

sceneRock drilling shear tester(commonly known as RBST) is a portable device used for in-situ measurement of rock shear strength (cohesion C, internal friction angle φ) and deformation parameters in exploration boreholes. It can avoid indoor sample disturbance and is suitable for testing medium soft and jointed rock masses.

Used to quickly test the shear force of rocks such as limestone, sandstone, shale, mudstone, coal, weathered rock, basalt, etc. at the survey site. The main advantage is that it can quickly detect the shear strength and residual shear strength of soft rocks and rocks that cannot be cored. Suitable for drilling holes with a diameter of 75mm, it only takes 20 to 30 minutes to complete a Mohr Coulomb rock failure envelope, with a normal stress of 80Mpa and a shear force of 35Mpa. The residual strength curve can be obtained by continuing to shear after each failure.

The working component of the shear probe is hardened tool steel, bring your ownProtective adaptive probe with replaceable hard alloy insert shear disc. Including a 3-foot (1-meter) threaded rod, rod clamp, hollow jack, booster pump, and instrument reading system placed in an aluminum packaging box.

RBST on-siteRock drilling shear testerDesigned and developed by the University of Iowa for the United States Bureau of Mines, it is widely used in mining safety, hydropower, tunnel, slope design and other fields, and is widely used in the United States, Japan, South Korea, China, India and other parts of the world.

☆ Shear stress up to 35Mpa

☆ 75mm borehole testing

☆ Complete a Moku destruction envelope within 30 minutes ☆ Obtain residual strength envelope

The correlation coefficient exceeds 0.98

★ Originating from the University of Iowa in the United States

main advantages

In situ testing: It truly reflects the natural stress state and structural characteristics of the rock mass, and the results are more reliable.

Efficient and economical: No need for sampling and preparation, multiple depths can be measured in the same borehole, shortening the construction period and reducing costs.

Easy to operate: The device is portable, easy to disassemble, and the on-site installation and testing process is simple.

Accurate data: Closed loop hydraulic control and high-precision sensors, high data repeatability and consistency.

Applicable scenarios

Rock mechanics parameter survey for water conservancy and hydropower, mining, tunnel, slope and other engineering projects.

Rock stability evaluation, support design, and safety monitoring.

In situ study of rock mechanics characteristics in scientific research and comparative verification with indoor experiments.
