Rapid bacterial countingEquipment Description

IBC is a bacterial counter from Bentley Company in the United States, which uses flow cytometry technology to rapidly and accurately count individual bacteria in raw milk one by one.

  • External computer with * function *

The operation and monitoring of the bacterial analyzer are controlled around the clock by an external computer with some functions. The self diagnostic function of the software can issue warnings to the operator at any time, reminding all diagnostic programs of any abnormal conditions found in the instrument. All analysis data and images are instantly saved in the database and can be viewed at any time.

  • Since the sample delivery device

Using a standard linear automatic sampling device, it can carry various types of sample racks without the need for any compressed air.

The mixer adopts a single point contact design that minimizes residue, and the automatic sample delivery device is also equipped with an automatic cleaning design, allowing the sampling tube to receive exceptional cleaning after each sample suction. The residue specified in the ISO16140 standard must be less than 1%, while the normal residue for IBC is 0.25%, which is much lower than the residue limit required by international standards.

  • *Cultivation/Ultrasonic Unit with Lid up Design

The incubator includes a 33 well 50 ℃ constant temperature turntable. Milk samples and culture reagents are automatically mixed, dispensed, and heated in the incubator. During the cultivation process, the mixed solution is automatically sonicated twice to remove possible interfering components and allow bacterial DNA to be contaminated with fluorescent markers.

The use of ultrasound probes is an important aspect of application, as it effectively removes potential interfering components such as somatic cells, greatly improving the sensitivity and signal-to-noise ratio of this method.

The turntable will automatically clean before and after each analysis to avoid any residue. The turntable can also be easily removed from the instrument for more thorough cleaning.

  • Industrial flow cytometer

The flow cytometer (technical device) includes a solid-state laser with high stability, a flow cytometer chamber, a microscope, a narrow filter, and a high-sensitivity light spot amplifier. Laser is irradiated onto fluorescent markers that penetrate bacterial DNA, and the fluorescent pulses are collected by an optical system. After being filtered by a narrow filter and eliminated by a photoelectric amplifier, the density and width of the fluorescent pulses are recorded and used as gate parameters. The classified pulses are converted into individual bacterial counts (IBCs) and converted colony counts (CFU). The flow cytometer is designed to be compact, fully enclosed, and maintained at a constant temperature of 30 ℃, ensuring maximum stability.

  • Liquid flow unit

The liquid flow unit adopts a closed module design for real-time filtration and monitoring of the dosage of two reagents used by the instrument. The sensor continuously monitors the liquid level, ensuring that the computer promptly reminds the operator to keep the liquid level above the low limit. The filter can filter the liquid flow online, removing any impurities that may contaminate the reagents. The filter can be easily removed from the module for cleaning or replacement.
