Portable fuel sniffing deviceThe built-in sampling pump transmits fuel vapor to a surface acoustic wave sensor, which measures the content of hydrocarbons (the main component of fuel) based on the frequency changes.

2、 Comparison between fuel sniffer and other detection methods

1. Viscosity

Indirect measurement shows that the viscosity of lubricating oil will decrease after fuel dilution, but there are many reasons for the decrease in lubricating oil viscosity. Can be used for on-site initial inspection, cannot be used for fault diagnosis.

2. Flash point

Indirect measurement shows that the flash point of lubricating oil will decrease after fuel dilution, but there are many reasons that can cause a decrease in the flash point of lubricating oil. Can be used for on-site initial inspection, cannot be used for fault diagnosis.

3. Specific gravity/density

Indirect measurement shows a slight decrease in lubricating oil density after fuel dilution. But there are many reasons that can cause a decrease in lubricant density. Can be used for on-site initial inspection, cannot be used for fault diagnosis.

4. Infrared spectroscopy

Direct measurement. Detect the absorption peak of characteristic functional groups in fuel. High requirements for personnel and inconsistent standards can cause significant deviations. It can be used for on-site initial inspection and also for fault diagnosis.

5. Gas chromatography (simulated distillation)

Directly measure and simulate the production process of fuel, and detect the content of separated fuel. The measurement results are accurate. The personnel requirements are very high and equipment is needed (equipment investment is large). It is generally not used for on-site initial inspection and can be used for fault diagnosis.

6. Fuel sniffer

Direct measurement, measuring the concentration of fuel vapor. Simple operation, strong applicability, and high accuracyEngine status monitoring requirements. It can be used as an on-site initial inspection and also for fault traceability analysis.
