Principle of Plastic Ash Analysis and Testing; A certain quality of plastic sample is burned and ashed in an electric furnace and furnace until the quality remains constant

Heavy, measure the percentage of ash content to the mass of the sample. The purpose is to detect and test the combustion of plastics in a muffle furnace

Analyze the ash content to detect the content of inorganic substances in plastics.

Chemical testing method for plastic ash content:

1. Calibrate the electronic balance.

2. Weigh a certain mass of plastic sample M grams (accurate to 0.1mg) using an electronic balance

3. Place the covered ceramic crucible in the muffle furnace. Heat to constant weight at a test temperature of (600 ± 25) ℃. Then place it in a drying oven to cool and dry for ≥ 1 hour, making the temperature the same as room temperature. Weigh it on an electronic balance (accurate to 0.1mg).

4. Place the weighed plastic sample into a covered crucible, not exceeding half of the height of the crucible, and then heat it on an electric furnace, burning slowly and not too quickly to avoid loss of ash particles. Until the sample no longer emits smoke.

5. Place the covered crucible containing the plastic sample into a preheated muffle furnace at the specified temperature, burn for 4-6 hours, then remove the crucible and place it in a drying oven to cool and dry for at least 1 hour until the temperature is consistent with room temperature. Weigh with an electronic balance to the nearest 0.1mg.

6. Under the same conditions, burn for another 0.5 hours until a constant weight is reached, that is, the difference between the two consecutive weighing results is not more than 0.5mg. Record this weight as M1 grams.

Calculation of Plastic Ash Analysis Results:
Ash content expressed as a mass percentage (M1-M0)/M × 100
M1- Total mass of crucible and ash content
M0- Quality of crucible
M - Quality of plastic samples.
