Pendulum hardness testing is one of the internationally recognized methods for testing hardness in the paint industry, used to determine the hardness of dried coatings. It is designed according to GB/T1730-93 and ISO1522.

If the coating surface is softer, the swing amplitude of the swing rod will decay faster (manifested as a shorter swing time from 6 ° to 3 °). On the contrary, the harder the coating surface, the slower the attenuation of the swing.
