Nanofiltration is a membrane separation process driven by pressure difference between reverse osmosis and ultrafiltration.

Nanofiltration is mainly used for the purification of drinking water and industrial water, wastewater purification treatment, and valuable concentration in process fluids. Separation is carried out at room temperature, without phase change, chemical reaction, or destruction of biological activity. It can effectively intercept divalent and high valent ions and organic small molecules with a relative molecular weight higher than 200, while allowing most monovalent inorganic salts to pass through. It can separate similar amino acids and proteins, achieve the separation of high molecular weight and low molecular weight organic compounds, and the cost is lower than traditional processes. Its applications involve many fields such as petrochemicals, marine chemicals, water treatment, biology, biochemistry, pharmaceuticals, food, environmental protection, and metallurgy.
