Liquid injection is used for pre-treatment of liquid hydrocarbon substances before analysis, to determine the composition of C1 to C5 hydrocarbons. It allows a small stream of liquid to enter a high-temperature zone, where the sample is flash evaporated. The pressure generated during the flash evaporation process can allow gaseous samples to be injected into the gas chromatograph. Because the temperature in the high-temperature zone can be controlled by the user, it is possible to achieve flash evaporation for multiple samples and ensure reproducible analysis.
