Overview

The Mullen Model C Bursting Instrument is a high-precision testing device with a maximum pressure of up to 200 PSI, suitable for testing materials such as paper, plastic, textiles, and non-woven fabrics. The instrument adopts an electric drive device to ensure stable pressure and is equipped with a manual rod clamp for quick and easy operation.

Product Details

Mullen Model C Bursting InstrumentCan provide up to200 PSIPressure, designed for testingPaper, foil, plastic, lightweight textiles, non-woven fabrics, and knitwearWait. The electric drive device ensures constant pressure, and its manual rod clamp allows for quick and easy testing.

pressure gauge

Mullen pressure gauge displays PSI, KPA or Kg/cm per square centimeter2All pressure gauges are accurately calibrated to 0.5% of the full range and have an external pointer that can be adjusted by turning the dial on the pressure gauge glass.

The calibration of a pressure gauge is to achieve maximum accuracy on the middle 50% of the scale. Avoid using at both ends of the scale. For a single pressure gauge, if the range is too wide, a Mullen multi gauge manifold is required.

Diaphragm and altitude pressure gauge

The performance of the diaphragm is crucial for good testing performance, and the diaphragm should be replaced regularly.

The Mullen diaphragm height pressure gauge can check the expansion degree, which helps determine when replacement is needed.

Fluid injector

The Mullen fluid injector has a piston and shut-off valve, which is used to inject fluid and maintain the appropriate liquid level in the cylinder, thus acting as a reservoir. The fluid injector is easy to replace the diaphragm and can improve testing accuracy.

manifold

The manifold is used to install two or more pressure gauges of any range on the tester. Each pressure gauge is equipped with a selector valve and a shut-off valve.

Use approximately 3 inches squareAluminum foil test pieceTo check the accuracy of the Mullen burst tester measuring tool. The foil can be traced back to NIST with a pressure range of 5-170 PSI. The performance of the tester is checked by bursting all ten foils in a package.

If the average value of the bursting value is within the specified range, it indicates that the tested instrument is basically consistent with the testing instrument of the research institute in terms of bursting level.

Note: The use of aluminum foil for testing does not constitute a recalibration of the tester gauge and does not comply with NIST standards, but can be used as a calibration tool for the tester. Not compliant with NIST standards, but this is a useful preventive measure.

As a provider of textile testing instruments and services,SDL Atlas is pleased to announce the acquisition of Mullen ® Testing equipment companyThis is a well-known manufacturer of Mullen burst strength testers, considered the industry benchmark for measuring the burst strength of paper, cardboard, non-woven fabrics, and textiles.

Since its development in 1887, the Mullen burst strength tester has played a crucial role in quality control across multiple industries. Mullen's technology is closely integrated with many TAPPI and ASTM standards, ensuring the implementation of quality control measures in laboratories around the world. This acquisition strengthens SDL Atlas' confidence in providing standards based testing solutions to different customers and industries worldwide.

The Mullen Bursting Strength Tester extends the testing capabilities of SDL Atlas, which can be used to test composite materials such as mesh, foil, plastic, and various other packaging materials and substrates.

The Mullen tester will operate as a department of SDL Atlas, and the production and distribution of Mullen tester products will be transferred to the SDL Atlas factory located in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
