The miniature tree growth cone is a portable tool specifically designed to extract samples from tree trunks while minimizing tree damage. It can monitor the bark phloem cambium zone and new ring zone. Widely used in forests, urban areas, parks and other places.
Preparation and InstallationUnscrew the nut on one end of the blue handle, take out the drill and core extractor, and be careful not to scratch the surface of the drill. Open the mechanical lock in the middle of the blue handle, insert the drill bit into the lock and secure it.
Select sampling locationAt a height of about 1.3 meters above the chest of the tree, select the smooth bark, without scars, knots, or hollow rot, and press the drill bit onto the trunk at a 90 degree angle.
Drilling operationRotate the handle and slowly drill the drill into the tree trunk, using even force to avoid excessive force during drilling. If the tree is relatively hard or dry, you can first use an electric drill to drill to a certain depth, and then switch to using a growth cone to continue drilling. When the drill penetrates the trunk by about 2-4 centimeters, stop pushing forcefully and use an open palm to circle and rotate the handle until the drill reaches the desired depth, which usually needs to be deep into the center of the trunk. Maintain the verticality of the drill bit throughout the entire process.
Extract tree coreWhen the growth cone reaches the desired depth, stop rotating the handle and insert the core extractor into the hole behind the drill. The V-shaped groove of the core extractor must face upwards, and try to insert the core extractor as deep as possible as the drill. After pushing the core extractor into the borehole, reverse the handle half or one turn to break or loosen the tree core, and then carefully remove the core extractor. At this point, the tree core is tightly fixed by the tooth end of the core extractor.
Take the birth length coneAfter removing the tree core, reverse the growth cone and remove it from the trunk.
TrephorMiniature tree growth coneWidely used in forests, urban areas, parks, and other areas, it is mainly used to extract samples from tree trunks to minimize tree damage. It can monitor the bark phloem, cambium zone, and latest ring zone, and can be applied in forestry research, tree physiology and ecology research, and other fields.
