principle

  • Mercury forMany materials areIt will not wet and requires external pressure to enter the pores of the material.
  • At atmospheric pressure, mercury cannot enter pores smaller than about 15 microns. Therefore, the weight of mercury in a known volume sample chamber containing a known weight sample is used to calculate the bulk density of the sample.
  • Operation method: Weigh the sample pool. Weigh the pool with the sample and place it in the instrument. Evacuate the sample cell through an external vacuum pump. After reaching sufficient vacuum, allow mercury to surround the sample in the sample cell. The sample pool containing the sample and mercury were weighed. Calculate the volumetric density based on the known weight, sample pool volume, and mercury density. Calculate the volume of an empty sample pool through calibration experiments without using samples.
