Overview

The melt flow rate meter is used to test the melt index of materials such as plastics. There are two models of MP1200: one is the basic model with manual weight addition, and the other is the electric model with electric weight divine device. The MP1200 integrates many new designs to enhance its functionality.

  melt indexerAlso known as a melt index meter, it is mainly used to measure the melt flow rate (MFR) values of various plastics and resins in a viscous flow state. This instrument is particularly suitable for determining the mass flow rate of thermoplastic melts, in accordance with the national standard GB/T3682-2000 "Determination of mass flow rate and volume flow rate of thermoplastic melts". This standard is equivalent to the provisions of ISO 1133:1997 and can meet the ASTM D1238 testing standard.

The melt flow rate meter is based on the mass or volume of thermoplastic material passing through a standard die every 10 minutes at a certain temperature and load. This measurement method is called the Mass Method (MFR). The instrument heats the sample through its upper heating furnace, and the heating wire inside the furnace is wrapped around the copper rod according to a certain rule to ensure that the temperature gradient is minimized and meets the standard requirements. The control panel on the operation control box is used to set the test temperature of the heating furnace.

The diameter of the piston rod head of the melt flow rate meter is usually Φ 9.475 ± 0.015 millimeters, with a timing range from 0.1 seconds to 9999 seconds and a timing accuracy of 0.1 seconds. Its temperature resolution is as high as 0.1 ℃, and the temperature accuracy is ± 0.2 ℃. These high-precision parameters ensure the accuracy and reliability of the measurement results.

The melt flow rate meter is not only suitable for engineering plastics with high melting temperatures, such as polycarbonate, polyarylsulfone, fluoroplastics, nylon, etc., but also for plastics with low melting temperatures, such as polyethylene (PE), polystyrene (PS), polypropylene (PP), ABS resin, polyoxymethylene (POM), polycarbonate (PC) resin, etc. Therefore, it has a wide range of applications in industries such as plastic production, plastic products, petrochemicals, as well as related universities, research institutions, and inspection departments.
