Product Details

The principle of water flow sensor and water flow switch is actually the same. The key is to see the product to know the difference. In fact, the name is not very relevant. Some water flow switches are also called flow switches or water flow sensors. There are two types of water flow switches, one is baffle type and piston type, and the other is easily confused and called flow meter. Flow meter and water flow switch are often mistaken for each other. A flow meter can measure water flow and display the number, while a flow switch only gives a signal alarm when there is water or no water passing through.
A water flow sensor refers to a water flow induction instrument that outputs pulse signals or signals such as current and voltage through the induction of water flow. The output of this signal is proportional to the water flow rate and has corresponding conversion formulas and comparison curves. Therefore, it can be used for water control management and flow calculation. It can be used as a water flow switch and also function as a flow meter for flow accumulation calculation. Water flow sensors are mainly used in conjunction with control chips, microcontrollers, and even PLCs. The water flow sensor has the functions of accurate flow control, cyclic setting of action flow rate, water flow display, and flow accumulation calculation.
Definition and principle difference between water flow sensor and water flow switch
Water flow switch refers to a water sensing switch that outputs a switch signal by monitoring the presence or absence of water flow, mainly consisting of switch signals. It is specifically divided into normally open and normally closed types, and the main worker plays a role in water flow monitoring in water control. The water flow switch is usually used in conjunction with an intermediate relay to form a water control system. Its advantages include simple and convenient use, as well as no power consumption.
In summary, the use of water flow sensors is more precise and extensive than that of water flow switches. The water flow switch is simpler and more convenient to use. The common feature of both is that they both output relevant signals by sensing water flow rate and have the function of using magnetic field induction.
Application selection of water flow sensors and water flow switches.
In demanding more precise water control systems, water flow sensors are more effective and intuitive to use. Taking the water flow sensor with pulse signal output as an example, it has stronger advantages in IC water meters and water and electricity heating environments with higher flow control requirements. Meanwhile, due to the convenience of PLC control, the linear output signal of the water flow sensor can be directly connected to the PLC, and even undergo correction and compensation, enabling quantitative control and electrical switching. Therefore, in some water control systems with relatively higher requirements, the application of water flow sensors has gradually replaced water flow switches, which not only have the sensing function of water flow switches but also meet the requirements of water flow measurement.
There is still a great demand for the application of water flow switches in some simple water controls. Non power consumption is a characteristic of water flow switches, and the simple and direct switch control also gives water flow switches incomparable advantages. Taking the commonly used reed switch type water flow switch as an example, direct switch signal output facilitates many development designs and simple electrical switch on/off of water pumps.
Precautions to be taken in the application of water flow sensors and water flow switches.
Precautions for using water flow sensors:
1. When magnetic materials or materials that generate magnetic force on the sensor approach the sensor, their characteristics may change.
2. To prevent particles and debris from entering the sensor, a filter screen must be installed at the inlet of the sensor.
3. The installation of water flow sensors should avoid environments with strong vibrations and shaking to avoid affecting the measurement accuracy of the sensor.
Precautions to be taken when using a water flow switch:
1. The installation environment of the water flow switch should avoid places with strong vibration, magnetic environment, and shaking to prevent misoperation of the water flow switch. To prevent particles and debris from entering the water flow switch, a filter screen must be installed at the inlet.
2. When the magnetic material approaches the water flow switch, its characteristics may change.
3. The water flow switch must be used in conjunction with a relay because the power of the reed switch is relatively small (usually 10W and 70W) and it is easy to burn out. The maximum power of the relay is 3W, and if the power is greater than 3W, it will exhibit normally open and normally closed phenomena.
