2、 Storage environment for weights

We all know about weights, which are a unit of measurement. By using a measuring device, weights can measure the volume of objects with high measurement accuracy. They are tools for measuring powders or chemicals.

However, precisely because of the high measurement accuracy of weights, special attention should be paid to providing a suitable storage environment for weights during daily use or placement. Otherwise, once the weight mass changes, it will lead to inaccurate measurement results, resulting in inaccurate usage of items and causing hidden dangers. The environmental requirements for weights made of different materials also vary. Currently, the most commonly used ones are stainless steel weights, cast iron weights, painted weights, etc. It has high environmental requirements and should not be stored indoors in damp conditions. It should be kept well ventilated and used with caution. Do not touch the weights directly with your hands, as there may be sweat marks on your hands. Do not underestimate these sweat marks, which can also affect the accuracy of the weights. After use, immediately put the weights back into their packaging box and use measuring tools such as tweezers during this process.

Stainless steel weights are mainly used to participate in quality transfer and calibration of measuring instruments. Many manufacturing enterprises have established standard calibration devices based on weights as the main standard. The traceability of standard weights is mainly through calibration. The calibration certificate of weights usually provides the corresponding converted mass correction value, converted mass value, allowable error, and calibration conclusion, but lacks information on measurement uncertainty.

Measurement and verification of weights

1. Single weight

During the initial verification, it is necessary to measure the magnetic properties, density (as specified), and converted mass of the weights. After verification, when the corresponding technical specifications are met, the individual weight is considered qualified for the initial verification.

Subsequent verification only measures its converted mass. After verification, when the requirements are met, the individual weight is considered qualified for subsequent verification. The conversion quality control of the repaired weight is based on the initial verification control. When the requirements are met, the weight is qualified.

2. Set of weights

When each individual weight in the group passes the verification, the entire set of weights is judged to be qualified. Otherwise, if one weight is unqualified, the entire set will be judged as unqualified.

Handling of non-conforming weight groups: issue a certificate of non conformity for the entire set of weights; After removing the unqualified weights, issue a certificate of conformity for the remaining weights together; After replacing the unqualified weights with qualified ones, a certificate of conformity will be issued for the entire set. The measurement control of the newly replaced weights shall comply with the initial verification requirements and be marked in the certificate.

3. Verification certificate

Certificate of correction value for weights: nominal mass value of the weight, converted mass correction value, converted mass value, allowable error (or extended uncertainty and its coverage factor). In addition, for E-grade weights, their actual volume value at 20 ℃ should also be provided; For weights of grade F and below, only the nominal density value of the weight is generally given, and if necessary, the actual volume value at 20 ℃ is given.

Certificate of no correction value for weights: the nominal mass value and corresponding allowable error of the weights.

Notification of Verification Results: The certificate should indicate the non-conforming items.
