MCX is a water wettable polymer adsorbent with a combination of reverse phase and strong cation exchange modes. It has both cation exchange and reverse phase adsorption modes, and has good water wettability. Its matrix is composed of N-vinylpyrrolidone and divinylbenzene polymerized in a specific ratio, and sulfonic acid groups (- SO3H) are bonded to the matrix. This substrate is clean, stable within the pH range of 0-14, stable in organic solvents, has a high specific surface area, large exchange capacity, and high selectivity and sensitivity to alkaline compounds. It is particularly suitable for the detection of melamine in milk, food, and feed, and is a similar product to Waters' Oasis MCX and Varian's Plexa PCX.
