A spring scale, also known as a spring force gauge, is a device that measures the magnitude of the applied force by using the proportional relationship between the deformation of the spring and the external force. Spring scales are divided into two types: pressure and tension. The pressure on the tray of the pressure spring scale is equal to the weight of the object, and the angle of rotation of the scale dial pointer indicates the value of the pressure applied. The lower end of the tension spring scale is connected to a hook (which is connected to the lower end of the spring), and the upper end of the spring is fixed on the ring at the top of the shell. Hang the test object on the hook, and the spring will elongate, while the pointer fixed on the spring will descend. Due to the fact that the elongation of a spring is proportional to the external force it receives within its elastic limit, the magnitude of the applied force or the weight of the object can be directly read from the scale value on the outer shell indicated by the pointer of the spring scale.
When using, it should be noted that the measured gravity or force should not exceed the measuring range of the spring scale. It should also be checked whether the pointer is pointing to the zero mark when the spring scale is not hanging an object. If it is not at the zero mark, it can be corrected. In addition, attention should be paid not to rub the spring and pointer against the housing to avoid excessive errors.
