threeBasic components of the system

The entire XBT XCTD system consists of three parts: XBT/XCTD probe, firing gun, and recorder.

The temperature and salinity (conductivity), flow, and sound velocity data are measured by corresponding sensors, and the depth data is converted from the fixed descending velocity of the streamlined probe.

XBT: Composed of a thermistor, thin copper wire, and streamlined housing.

XCTD: Composed of thermistor, inductive conductivity sensor, thin copper wire, and streamlined housing.

Shooting gun: There are structures such as handheld and ship side mounted, which directly shoot the probe into the water.

Recorder: Real time recording and display of measured temperature/Depth, temperature salinity depth, temperature/ocean current or temperature/sound velocity value.
