As the "protective jacket" of the insulation system for large tank bodies, the iron sheet outer cover has three main functions: firstly, it blocks rainwater, moisture, and dust from penetrating into the insulation layer, preventing the insulation cotton from being affected by moisture, powdering, and falling off, ensuring the energy-saving effect of insulation; The second is to resist acidic and alkaline media, outdoor exposure to sunlight, and external impact, protecting the tank and insulation layer from damage; The third is to standardize the appearance of the tank body to ensure that the project meets the standards of civilized construction and fire safety acceptance in the factory area.

2、 Core construction process (standardized operation, fully controllable)
The construction of iron sheet outer protection for large tank bodies follows the standardized process of "preliminary preparation, base treatment, measurement, layout, iron sheet cutting, bending, edge pressing, layer by layer installation, fixing, and sealing product acceptance". Combined with the characteristics of the curved surface of large tank bodies, the focus is on controlling the accuracy of layout and the quality of splicing. The specific process is as follows:
1. Preliminary preparation
Based on the size and working conditions of the tank body (high/low temperature, corrosion/drying), select suitable galvanized iron sheet (commonly 0.8-1.2mm thick, with high zinc layer iron sheet above 1.2mm selected for outdoor/corrosion scenarios), and match with auxiliary materials such as stainless steel rivets, weather resistant sealant, insulation straps, etc; Equipped with professional layout equipment, shearing machines, bending machines, riveting guns and other construction tools, establish professional construction teams (including supervisors, technicians, quality inspectors), complete on-site inspections and safety protection construction in advance, and ensure safe and efficient construction.
2. Grassroots treatment (key foundation)
Before construction, the outer surface of the insulation layer of the tank body should be thoroughly cleaned to ensure that the surface is flat, dry, free of debris, and no protrusions. Loose or damaged parts of the insulation layer surface should be removed; Pre treat the joints, pipe openings, manholes and other nodes of the insulation layer, fill the gaps, compact and level them, and avoid sharp parts from scratching the iron sheet; If there is a potential corrosion hazard at the base of the tank, rust removal and anti-corrosion treatment should be carried out in advance to ensure that the outer protection of the iron sheet is tightly adhered and free of hollowing.
3. Measurement and layout and iron sheet cutting
Using precise measurement tools to measure the circumference, height, and curvature of large tanks, combined with irregular parts such as tank heads, manholes, ladders, and support legs, computer or on-site layout is carried out to ensure accurate cutting dimensions (error ≤ 2mm); According to the layout data, use a shearing machine to cut the iron sheet, reserve longitudinal and circumferential overlap (both ≥ 50mm), and accurately cut and shape the curved surface and head of the tank body to avoid gaps and curled edges in later splicing.
4. Iron sheet bending and edge pressing
Use a bending machine to edge press and bend the cut iron sheet, with the edge pressing angle controlled at 90 °, to enhance the biting strength and waterproof performance of the iron sheet, while avoiding sharp edges of the iron sheet from scratching construction personnel; For the curved surface of the tank body, the iron sheet is moderately bent and shaped to ensure a tight fit between the iron sheet and the curved surface of the tank body, without any suspension or wrinkles.
5. Layered installation and fixation
Adopting the "bottom-up, layered installation" method, first install the bottom iron sheet of the tank body, and then gradually splice it upwards to ensure that the circumferential overlap is "pressed up and down" (in the direction of water flow), and the longitudinal overlap is left below the side of the tank body, avoiding the upstream face and directly above to prevent rainwater from pouring back; Use stainless steel rivets to fix the iron sheet, with rivet spacing controlled between 150-200mm and arranged neatly. The distance between rivets and the edge of the iron sheet should not be less than 15mm to avoid tearing; For large tanks, add snap fasteners to assist in fixing, ensuring that the iron sheet is tightly attached to the insulation layer without bulging or loosening.
6. Sealing and waterproof treatment
All iron sheet joints, rivet holes, corners, pipe openings, manholes and other nodes are fully sealed with weather resistant sealant, with continuous and full adhesive lines, no broken adhesive, no bubbles, and no gaps; In outdoor, coastal, chemical and other corrosive environments, aluminum foil tape is added to the inside of the joint to form a dual waterproof protection, blocking rainwater and moisture from penetrating the insulation layer and preventing the insulation layer from being damp and aging.
7. Special construction of irregular parts
For irregular parts such as tank heads, manholes, ladders, legs, flanges, valves, etc., customized cutting and segmented splicing processes are adopted: the head part is treated with "segmented splicing and smooth curvature" to ensure a tight fit; Removable iron sheet covers are made for manholes, flanges, and valve parts to facilitate later maintenance. The covers are tightly sealed with the iron sheet of the tank body, without affecting the overall protective effect; The climbing ladder and supporting leg parts are cut and pasted with iron sheets to fit the shape of the components, leaving room for expansion and contraction to avoid cracking of the iron sheets caused by thermal expansion and contraction.
8. Finished product acceptance
After the construction is completed, a comprehensive quality acceptance shall be carried out: check whether the outer surface of the iron sheet is flat, without pits, curled edges, or damage; Whether the joint seam is straight and the seal is tight; Whether the fixed parts are firm and arranged neatly; Whether the treatment of irregular parts is standardized and whether the detachable cover is flexible. After passing the acceptance inspection, clean up the construction waste on site, protect the finished products, and avoid scratching and damage to the iron sheet.
