In vacuum cleaning systems and industrial dust removal equipment, the cast aluminum high-pressure blower (usually referring to high-pressure centrifugal fans or multi-stage turbine fans) plays the role of the "system heart". Its working principle and selection logic are fundamentally different from the application of blow drying, with the core being the generation of negative pressure and the maintenance of airflow to carry dust.
The following is a detailed analysis of the application.
1、 Main working principle
In these two types of devices, the working principle of the fan is to forcefully discharge the air inside the system through the high-speed rotating impeller, creating a negative pressure (vacuum degree) relative to the atmosphere in the suction port or filter cartridge cavity.
1. Generate negative pressure (vacuum degree):
·The fan is installed on the clean air side of the dust collector (i.e. after the filter element). When the fan is working, it continuously extracts filtered clean air, causing a decrease in pressure inside the sealed dust collector box.
·According to the principles of fluid mechanics, external dusty air will automatically flow into the interior of the box through the path with the least resistance, namely the suction port/suction arm pipeline dust collector filter element, under the drive of atmospheric pressure, with a pressure difference.
2. Establish a conveying airflow:
·This continuous airflow from the suction port to the fan provides conveying power for dust particles. The airflow velocity must be high enough to ensure that dust remains suspended in the pipeline and is carried away, without settling at the bottom of the horizontal pipeline.
3. Core difference: Vacuum suction vs. dust removal
·Vacuum cleaning system: usually mobile or ducted, the fan directly generates high negative pressure for capturing and transporting materials (such as debris, particles). The key is to overcome the resistance of the suction nozzle, hose, and separator to achieve effective picking.
·Industrial dust removal equipment: usually a fixed dust collector, the fan mainly overcomes the filtering resistance of the filter element while maintaining the negative pressure of the system. The air volume should ensure that the filtering air speed is within a reasonable range to achieve effective dust cleaning and filtration.
2、 Key performance requirements and selection parameters
The core of selection is to balance the relationship between "suction" (negative pressure/vacuum degree) and "wind" (air volume).

1. Key parameters of air volume (Q). Determine the effective coverage range of the dust collection system, the wind speed required to maintain dust deposition in the pipeline, and the filtration wind speed of the dust collector. Insufficient air flow prevents suction from reaching distant areas, causing dust to settle. It is determined by the conveying wind speed and pipeline area or the filtering wind speed and filtering area. This is the primary calculation parameter. The range is extremely wide, from a few m ³/min for mobile vacuum cleaners to thousands of m ³/min for large-scale dust removal.
2. Key parameters of pressure (P) or vacuum degree (Δ P). The pressure here refers to the total system pressure loss that the fan needs to overcome, manifested as the vacuum degree (negative pressure) at the inlet end. It must be sufficient to overcome: local resistance at the suction port+frictional resistance along the pipeline+resistance of the dust collector body (the core is the resistance of the filter material). The total resistance of the system is usually between 1.5-7 kPa (approximately 150-700 mmH ₂ O, or 6-28 inches of water column). Among them: • Initial resistance of filter element:~500-1000 Pa • Resistance after dust accumulation of filter element: can increase by 1000-2000 Pa • Pipeline resistance: calculated based on length, elbow, and wind speed • Suction resistance: depends on the design.
3. Power (kW) derived parameters. Determined by the required air volume and total system pressure. From kilowatts of household vacuum cleaners to hundreds of kilowatts of industrial large-scale dust collectors.
4. Material and characteristics: Cast aluminum shell: lightweight, suitable for general industrial dust. If the dust is abrasive (such as grinding wheel dust), attention should be paid to the wear-resistant treatment of the impeller (such as spraying a hardened layer). If it is flammable and explosive dust, it is strictly prohibited to use cast aluminum fans (which may generate sparks), and explosion-proof types (such as copper impellers or all aluminum structures) must be selected.
2. High efficiency zone selection: Ensure that the point is located within the high-efficiency working zone of the fan performance curve (usually the gentle downward segment to the right of the curve peak).
3. Condition correction: The sample parameters of the fan are usually given under standard conditions (20 ℃, 101.3kPa, air density 1.2kg/m ³). If the actual working conditions (such as high temperature, high altitude) have different air densities, conversion is required: actual pressure=sample pressure x (actual density/1.2); Actual power=sample power x (actual density/1.2).
4. Power determination: Read the shaft power corresponding to the operating point from the performance curve and match it with the motor power (usually with a safety margin).
4、 Important precautions and recommended tips
1. Misconception of "suction": High vacuum degree does not necessarily mean good suction. The true 'suction' is the result of the combined action of air volume and negative pressure. The main reason for the inability to absorb dust is the decrease in flow velocity caused by insufficient air flow at a location far from the suction port. When selecting, priority must be given to air volume and pressure assurance.
2. System design determines success or failure: the fan is only a part of the system. Poor pipeline design (excessive bends, unreasonable pipe diameter, air leakage) can greatly increase resistance, making even the best fan unable to achieve the expected effect. The pipeline should be as short, straight, and smooth as possible.
3. Explosion proof and safety:
·When handling combustible dust (such as aluminum powder, flour, coal powder, plastic dust), the system must be explosion-proof.
·The fan must be of explosion-proof type, and the explosion-proof level of the motor (such as Ex d IIB T4) must comply with the specifications.
·The system needs to consider safety measures such as explosion venting, explosion isolation, and explosion suppression.
4. Wear resistance and maintenance:
·Although the fan is located after filtering, if the filter element is damaged, dust will directly impact the impeller, causing wear and imbalance.
·It is recommended to install a secondary safety filter (such as a high-efficiency bag filter) in front of the fan.
·Regularly inspect the dust accumulation and wear of the fan impeller, and perform dynamic balance correction.
5. Noise and vibration: Industrial dust removal fans produce loud noise. Export silencers must be equipped, and consideration should be given to installing soundproof rooms or using integrated fan units with soundproof covers. A solid foundation in shock absorption is crucial.

·System integration: Hand over the requirements to professional dust removal equipment manufacturers or system integrators. They can perform professional pipeline resistance calculations and fan matching, providing turnkey solutions.
·Fan type selection:
·Medium air volume, high pressure: Multi stage high-pressure centrifugal fans (turbine type) are the mainstream choice, and cast aluminum shells are commonly used here.
·High air volume, medium low pressure: Forward leaning or backward leaning centrifugal fans can be considered.
·Small air volume, portable vacuum cleaner: Vortex air pumps (side air duct fans) also often use cast aluminum shells.

·The performance curve is part of the contract: the procurement contract clearly requires the performance of the fan at specified operating points and allows for on-site testing and verification (such as using pitot tubes to measure air volume and pressure gauges to measure negative pressure).
