The main difference between the structure of a honeycomb electric tar catcher and a tubular electric tar catcher is the hexagonal honeycomb tube made of stainless steel plate, which changes the channel cross-section from circular to hexagonal. Two adjacent regular hexagons share one side, that is, the six sides of the middle regular hexagon are all shared by the six regular hexagons surrounding it, as shown in (figure). This honeycomb tube bundle composed of several hexagonal shapes maximizes the use of the area of the electric tar precipitator, and different honeycomb diameters and numbers can be adopted according to the amount of gas processed. Characteristics of Honeycomb Electric Tar Catcher

The honeycomb type electric tar catcher adopts a honeycomb structure, which is compact in structure, has a large usage area, no electric field holes, has a large gas processing capacity, low resistance of the electric tar catcher system, large surface area of the precipitation electrode, and can remove oil. It is suitable for situations where the gas processing capacity is large and the tar content in the gas after electric tar catcher is required to be low. Although there are disadvantages such as high manufacturing difficulty and easy errors during transportation and installation, with the improvement of equipment manufacturing technology, as long as it is installed properly, the advantages of honeycomb electric tar precipitators will become increasingly prominent and valued in production.

Working principle of electric tar catcher

According to ionization theory, if an electric field is maintained between two metal plates, gas molecules containing dust and tar mist will be ionized by passing through the two metal plates, producing ions with positive and negative charges. Positive ions will then move towards the cathode, while negative ions will move towards the anode. As the potential difference on the electrode increases, the electric field strength will increase, and the speed and kinetic energy of ions and electrons will also increase. When ions and electrons with sufficient velocity and kinetic energy collide with neutral molecules, new ions will be produced. When the potential difference is high, collision ionization will occur rapidly in the electric field, causing a large number of gas molecules between the two poles to ionize. The ions will meet the particles of tar droplets and attach to them, making them Particles also carry charges and can be attracted by electrodes to be removed from the gas. Positively charged ions move towards the electrode, while negatively charged tar particles move towards the electrode tube wall, forming large particle droplets that flow automatically to the tar collection tube for collection.

The function of electric tar catcher

If the tar content in the gas exceeds the standard, it will first burden the blower, reduce its service life, and easily lead to the occurrence of malignant accidents, increasing the frequency of accidents; When the gas containing a large amount of tar mist enters the desulfurization section, the tar will attach to the light porcelain filler of the desulfurization tower, which will increase the resistance of the equipment, pollute the desulfurization liquid, and also lead to the difficulty in producing sulfur foam in the tower, the inability of the desulfurization liquid, the gradual saturation of H2S in the desulfurization liquid, the decline in the ability of the desulfurization liquid to absorb H2S, and further deteriorate the gas quality; If the gas passes through the ammonium sulfate section and contains a large amount of tar, it is easy to cause blockage of the gas preheater, which affects the operation. After the mother liquor is sprayed, the acid tar remains inside the saturator, causing an increase in equipment resistance, a decrease in the quality of ammonium sulfate crystallization, and hindering the absorption of ammonia in the gas; The gas coming out of the saturator enters the final cooling tower of the crude benzene section, where a large number of tar droplets are cooled again and adhere to the interior of the final cooling tower, causing an increase in resistance. When passing through the benzene washing tower, some tar will also enter the washing oil, affecting the quality of the washing oil, increasing its viscosity, making it difficult to flow in the equipment, and reducing its ability to absorb benzene hydrocarbons, thereby affecting the production of crude benzene and deteriorating the quality of the washing oil. This increases the frequency of use of the equipment, resulting in waste of washing oil and production costs.
