SMILLA (Smart Modular Imaging Laboratory Liquid Analyzer) is a cutting-edge modular solution using high-resolution flow imaging microscopy (HiRes SIM) technology for analyzing visible and sub visible particles. Its flexible design can easily adapt to the specific needs of the laboratory, providing efficient, accurate, and reproducible analysis results.

SMILLA is equipped with multiple interchangeable modules, each designed for specific functions and application requirements. The module replacement is simple, ensuring the shortest downtime and adaptability.
After inserting the module, SMILLA will automatically detect and complete the configuration, making it a part of the system without the need for manual settings. The physical layout of the module supports customized sample flow to adapt to different application scenarios.
This modular architecture provides flexibility and supports a wide range of particle sizes (from 200 nanometers to 2 millimeters), making it an ideal choice for diverse applications in research, quality control, and industrial environments.

HiRes SIM (High Resolution Imaging) module
Cutting edge particle imaging analysis technology
The HiRes FIS (High Resolution Flow Particle Imaging Microscope) module is the core of the SMILLA analyzer and utilizes image-based particle analysis technology. Equipped with a high-performance high-resolution camera, it can accurately visualize sub visible particles in liquid samples, with a minimum size of 0.2 microns.
-Provide two camera options (12 megapixel, black and white or color camera) to meet different application needs. Both cameras have ultra-high frame rates and real-time processing capabilities, enabling fast and efficient measurements.
-Intelligent design ensures that repeatable and high-precision results can still be output under harsh conditions. Ultra short exposure time effectively eliminates motion blur and fully complies with European Pharmacopoeia standards.
-The advanced autofocus system can continuously obtain clear images without the need for a focusing ball. Innovative and replaceableAmplification moduleSupports quick switching of magnification within seconds. All modules are equipped with RFID chips that automatically recognize after installation, without the need for additional manual configuration.
-The module integrates precision, speed, and versatility, making it an ideal choice for laboratory environments that pursue reproducible results and imaging performance.This module also provides flexibility in microscopy methods: it supports high-resolution imaging of transparent or colored particles/organisms in transmitted light mode, and can also be optionally used in reflected light mode for optically dense samples. The imaging mode can be quickly switched through an intuitive software interface.
LO module
Reliable particle counting achieved by photoresist method
The LO (photoresist method) module is an orthogonal measurement method used for counting and size analysis of particles in liquid samples, and is an ideal supplement to the SMILLA HiRes SIM module image analysis technology. A single sample run can achieve two measurement techniques, improving analysis depth and operational efficiency.
-The measurable particle size range is 1 to 120 microns (depending on the flow cell of the upstream FIM module). Even in high concentration samples, the LO module can still provide robust and accurate data. Optimizing flow rate design ensures excellent resolution and precise particle detection, suitable for various challenging applications.
The LO module is the ultimate support for laboratories pursuing compliant quantitative particle analysis, while benefiting from SMILLA's modular high-performance design.
Pump module
Accurate and reliable sample transmission
The pump module provides multiple configurations, flexibly adapting to sample types, flow preferences, and flow rate requirements:
-MACRO pump: single peristaltic pump, suitable for large volume samples, recommended for bottom-up configuration.
-MICRO1 pump: single injection pump, precise measurement of small volume samples.
-MICRO2 pump: Double alternating injection pump ensures uninterrupted flow of large volume samples.
-HYBRID pump: a combination of peristaltic pump and injection pump, suitable for multiple sample types, volumes, or wide particle size range requirements.
Cleaning Module
Can achieve automatic cleaning to avoid cross contamination
The cleaning module is equipped with a built-in cleaning and rinsing system, which can automatically clean the sample port, tubing, and flow cell after each measurement. The convenient backwash function can remove clogged particles without disassembling the flow cell.
-The framework is equipped with multiple sensors to ensure reliable operation of SMILLA in standalone mode or in combination with liquid handling systems. Its special design supports flexible configuration of HiRes SIM, LO, and pump modules.
