1、 Pre treatment system: pre guarantee for raw water purification
As the first line of defense for the preparation of medical purified water, the pre-treatment system's core function is to remove impurities such as suspended solids, sediment, rust, residual chlorine, organic matter, and hardness substances from the raw water, reduce the pollution index of the raw water, provide high-quality influent for subsequent core treatment units such as reverse osmosis, and effectively protect key equipment to extend its service life.
(1) Raw water tank
  1. Functional AnalysisThe raw water tank plays an important role in storing raw water and buffering fluctuations in water volume. When the raw water supply is unstable or the water demand of subsequent treatment units changes instantaneously, the water tank can adjust the water volume in a timely manner to ensure the stable operation of the entire purified water preparation system and avoid equipment shutdown caused by interruption of raw water supply.

  1. Design PointsThe material used is food grade 304 stainless steel, which has good corrosion resistance and hygiene performance, and can effectively prevent the water tank material from causing secondary pollution to the water quality. For a purified water equipment with a capacity of 5 tons/hour, based on the design principle of 1.5-2 times the processing capacity per hour, the capacity of the raw water tank is reasonably designed to be 7.5-10 cubic meters. At the same time, a liquid level sensor is installed inside the water tank to monitor real-time changes in water level, and is linked with the raw water pump control system to achieve automatic supply and stop of raw water.

(2) Raw water pump

Functional AnalysisThe raw water pump provides stable pressure and flow for the subsequent treatment system, ensuring that the raw water can smoothly pass through various treatment units such as multi-media filters and activated carbon filters, and maintaining the continuous operation of the system.

  1. Design PointsThe centrifugal pump made of stainless steel material is selected, which has the characteristics of corrosion resistance and high efficiency. According to the processing flow requirement of 5 tons/hour in the system, combined with the pressure loss of subsequent processing units (usually including pipeline resistance, filter resistance, etc.), the pump head should be reasonably determined, generally between 20-30 meters. At the same time, configuring a frequency converter controller can automatically adjust the pump speed according to the water level of the raw water tank and the actual needs of the subsequent processing unit, achieving energy-saving operation.

(3) Multi media filter
  1. Functional AnalysisThe multimedia filter adopts a layered filter material structure inside, which removes suspended solids, sediment, particle impurities, etc. with a particle size of 5-10 μ m in water through physical interception, precipitation, and adsorption, significantly reducing the turbidity of water and reducing the load for subsequent treatment.

  1. Design PointsFill the filter with quartz sand with a particle size of 0.5-1.2mm and anthracite coal with a particle size of 1-2mm from top to bottom. Quartz sand intercepts tiny particles with small gaps between them, while anthracite is used to remove larger impurities. The filtration rate is controlled at 8-12 meters per hour. When the pressure difference between the inlet and outlet of the filter reaches the set value (such as 0.05-0.1MPa) or the operating time reaches the set cycle (such as 48-72 hours), the backwash program is initiated. Backwashing adopts a combination of air and water flushing method. First, air is used to scrub and loosen the filter material, and then water is used to flush out impurities, effectively restoring the filtering performance of the filter material.

(4) Activated carbon filter
  1. Functional AnalysisBy utilizing the abundant microporous structure and huge specific surface area of activated carbon, residual chlorine, organic matter, odors, and pigments in water can be adsorbed. Among them, removing residual chlorine can prevent it from causing oxidative damage to subsequent reverse osmosis membranes, while adsorbing organic matter can help reduce the total organic carbon (TOC) content in water.

  1. Design PointsSelect high-quality coconut shell activated carbon with iodine value ≥ 800mg/g, and control the filtration rate at 10-15 meters/hour. The activated carbon filter is regularly backwashed, with a cycle similar to that of the multi-media filter. Meanwhile, according to the adsorption saturation of activated carbon, it should be replaced every 6-12 months to ensure its continuous and efficient adsorption effect.

(5) Softener (optional)
  1. Functional AnalysisWhen the hardness of the raw water is high (calcium and magnesium ion concentration>100ppm), the softener removes calcium and magnesium ions from the water through ion exchange or chemical agents, preventing the formation of scale on the surface of the subsequent reverse osmosis membrane and ensuring the stable operation and efficient desalination performance of the reverse osmosis system.

  1. Design PointsWhen using ion exchange method, the softener is filled with strong acidic cation exchange resin. Reasonably calculate the resin filling amount and exchange cycle based on the hardness of the raw water and the amount of treated water. The resin regeneration cycle is generally 1-2 days, and the regeneration process uses sodium chloride solution for reverse flushing to restore the resin's exchange capacity.

(6) Precision filter
  1. Functional AnalysisAs the last protective barrier of the reverse osmosis system, the precision filter further removes small particle impurities with a particle size of less than 5 μ m in water, such as broken filter media, flocs, etc., to prevent these impurities from scratching the surface of the reverse osmosis membrane and ensure that the reverse osmosis membrane operates under good conditions.

  1. Design PointsChoose a foldable 5 μ m polypropylene (PP) melt blown filter cartridge, which has a large filtration area and pollutant holding capacity. Replace the filter element every 3-6 months based on the inlet water quality and operating time. At the same time, a pressure difference alarm device is set up to prompt the replacement of the filter element when the pressure difference between the inlet and outlet of the filter exceeds 0.07MPa.

2、 Reverse osmosis system: the core link of deep desalination
The reverse osmosis system is the key to achieving deep desalination of raw water. Through the selective permeation principle of the reverse osmosis membrane, more than 98% of dissolved salts, organic matter, bacteria, viruses and other impurities in the water are removed, providing high-quality influent for subsequent deep treatment.
(1) High pressure pump

Functional AnalysisThe high-pressure pump provides a water inlet pressure of 1.0-1.5MPa for reverse osmosis membrane filtration, overcoming the osmotic pressure of water and allowing water molecules to pass through the reverse osmosis membrane while retaining impurities, achieving deep desalination and purification of water.

  1. Design PointsHigh pressure pump made of 316L stainless steel material, equipped with pressure sensor and variable frequency control device. Accurately match the flow rate and pressure of the pump based on the model, quantity, and water production requirements of the reverse osmosis membrane. When the system pressure exceeds 1.8MPa or falls below 0.8MPa, it will automatically shut down and sound an alarm to prevent damage to the membrane components.

(2) Reverse osmosis membrane module
  1. Functional AnalysisThe reverse osmosis membrane made of polyamide composite material utilizes the selective permeability of semi permeable membranes to separate water molecules from impurities under high pressure, achieving the goal of purifying water quality.

  1. Design PointsAccording to the requirements of a water production rate of 5 tons/hour and medical water quality, Dow FILMTEC BW30-400 and other membrane components are selected, with a single membrane desalination rate of ≥ 98%. By designing the arrangement and quantity configuration of membrane components in a reasonable manner (such as a single-stage two-stage design), the stable operation of the system can be ensured. To prevent the accumulation of pollutants on the membrane surface, a chemical cleaning device is installed, and citric acid, * and other chemicals are regularly used for cleaning. The cleaning cycle is determined based on the inlet water quality and operating data, usually 3-6 months.

(3) Reverse osmosis water tank

3、 Post treatment system: the ultimate guarantee for water quality improvement
The post-treatment system further improves the quality of purified water through processes such as sterilization and filtration, ensuring that it meets the strict water standards of the medical industry.
(1) UV sterilizer

Functional AnalysisUsing 254nm wavelength ultraviolet radiation to destroy the DNA structure of residual bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms in water, causing them to lose their ability to reproduce and survive, effectively killing more than 99% of microorganisms and ensuring the sterile state of purified water.

Design PointsAccording to a processing water volume of 5 tons/hour, configure ultraviolet lamps with appropriate power to ensure that the ultraviolet radiation dose of the water flow in the equipment is ≥ 40mJ/cm ². Adopting a pipeline flow method, the water flow rate is controlled at 0.5-1.5 meters per second, and the irradiation time is not less than 10 seconds. Regularly (every 6-12 months) replace ultraviolet lamps to ensure sterilization effectiveness.

(2) Micro porous filter
