Principles of LIBS Technology
LIBS8000Handheld laser-induced breakdown spectrometerBased on Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) technology, its technical principle can be summarized as four precisely controlled physical processes:
(1) Laser matter interaction: High energy pulsed laser (1064nm) is precisely focused on the surface of aluminum alloy samples through a focusing lens system, with an energy density of 10 ⁹ W/cm ², causing local materials (diameter less than 1 μ m) to ionize and vaporize in nanoseconds, forming high-temperature (>10000K), high-density microplasma.
(2) Plasma radiation: During the plasma cooling process (1-10 μ s), excited atoms/ions return to their ground state and emit light radiation with elemental characteristics. Each element, due to its unique electronic energy level structure, produces characteristic spectral lines of specific wavelengths, forming the 'optical fingerprint' of the element. Qualitative analysis of the element can be achieved by utilizing its characteristic spectrum.
(3) Spectral acquisition and dispersion: Plasma radiation is transmitted through optical fibers to a high-resolution spectrometer, which converts the optical signal into an electrical signal and ultimately outputs a spectral spectrum.
(4) Spectral preprocessing and quantitative analysis: Through spectral preprocessing and algorithms, quantitative analysis of elements is achieved.
