Graphene Iron Sodium Chromium Copper Nickel Aluminum Molybdenum Element Analyzer EDX6000C Jiangsu Tianrui Instrument Co., Ltd. complies with GB/T 24533-2019 "Graphite Negative Electrode Materials for Lithium ion Batteries". For various levels of graphite negative electrode materials for lithium-ion batteries, the content of trace metal elements (iron, sodium, chromium, copper, nickel, aluminum, molybdenum) is limited, and the total amount of magnetic substances (iron+chromium+nickel+zinc+cobalt) is also limited

The graphite based negative electrode material used in lithium-ion batteries is a crystalline layered structure of graphite based carbon material, which works synergistically with the positive electrode material in a certain system to achieve multiple charging and discharging of lithium ions. During the charging process, the graphite based negative electrode accepts the insertion of lithium ions, and during the discharging process, lithium ions are released. The content of impurity elements in this type of graphite has a significant impact on the safety and performance of lithium-ion batteries. Studies have also shown that appropriate modification of this type of graphite can effectively improve the performance of corresponding battery materials. Therefore, accurately and quickly determining its content has positive guiding significance for the research and development of new energy lithium-ion batteries.
Graphene iron sodium chromium copper nickel aluminum molybdenum element analyzer-EDX6000C produced by Jiangsu Tianrui Instrument Co., Ltd. meets the requirements of the current national standard document "GB/T 24533-2019 Graphite Negative Electrode Materials for Lithium ion Batteries" for the physical and chemical properties of such materials. For various levels of graphite negative electrode materials for lithium-ion batteries, the document not only limits the content of trace metal elements (iron, sodium, chromium, copper, nickel, aluminum, molybdenum), but also limits the total amount of magnetic substances (iron+chromium+nickel+zinc+cobalt), sulfur element content, and restricted substance content (refer to "GB/T Determination of Six Restricted Substances for Electronic and Electrical Products (lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls, and polybrominated diphenyl ethers)"). Battery negative electrode material manufacturers have other performance requirements for graphite and can monitor the technical indicators of other elements accordingly.

3. Establishment of working curve and sample analysis
Set appropriate measurement conditions and use an X-ray fluorescence spectrometer to scan a series of graphite standard materials or graphite secondary standard samples with known content. The linear calibration curve of the content and intensity of elements such as Mg, Al, Si, K, Ca, Ti, Mn, Fe, etc. in this series of samples should be considered. Then, measure the unknown graphite sample.

Figure 2: Linear relationship between the content and intensity of different elements of interest in graphite samples
Use EDX 6000C energy dispersive fluorescence spectrometer to measure the national standard materials ZBM 150~ZBM 154 of graphite or graphite ore with different contents, and establish calibration curves for the content and intensity of Mg, Al, Si, K, Ca, Ti, Mn, and Fe elements. As shown in the figure, there is a very good linear relationship between the content and strength of the element of interest in graphite or graphite ore.

Figure 3: Fluorescence spectrum of graphite sample
Figure 3 shows the X-ray fluorescence spectrum of graphite sample 1 #. From the spectrum, it can be seen that the sample contains a small amount of elements such as Mg, Al, Si, P, K, Ca, Ti, Mn, Fe, etc. After conducting repeatability testing on the sample, the oxide content of the corresponding element was calculated in the test results, which showed good repeatability.
