Glass carbon electrode GC110It is the abbreviation for glassy carbon electrode.

The advantages of glassy carbon electrodes are good conductivity, high chemical stability, low thermal expansion coefficient, hard texture, good airtightness, and a wide range of potential applications (about -1-1V, relative to saturated calomel electrodes). They can be made into cylindrical, circular, and other electrode shapes. They can also be used as a substrate to make mercury film glassy carbon electrodes and chemically modified electrodes. It has been increasingly widely used in electrochemical experiments or electroanalytical chemistry.

Glass carbon electrode GC110If further treatment of glassy carbon electrodes is required using ultrasound, the following points should be noted:

1. It is not advisable to place the electrode directly at the bottom of the cleaner to avoid damage to the electrode caused by excessive ultrasonic waves;

2. The ultrasound time should not be too long, generally not exceeding 30 seconds each time;

3. The container and solution used for ultrasound should be kept clean;

4. The electrodes of the PTFE jacket should avoid using high-temperature cleaning solutions for cleaning;

5. The use of strong sulfuric acid cleaning solution should be avoided for polyetheretherketone electrodes (refer to instructions: corrosion resistance of PEEK material);

The applicable range of glassy carbon electrode potential is limited, and attention should be paid to avoiding the use of excessive current or voltage;

Preservation of glassy carbon electrodes. Remove as much residue as possible from the surface of the electrode to keep it clean, and then store it in a dry and dark environment at room temperature.
