User Manual for German Nix QNix4500 Coating Thickness Gauge

QuaNix4200/4500 is a metal coating thickness gauge designed using the Hall principle, which integrates a probe and a host. QuaNix4200 is used to measure coatings on ferromagnetic substrates such as steel and iron, such as paint, various anti-corrosion coatings, powder coating, etc. QuaNix4500 with Fe/NFT dual-purpose probe can be used to measure both magnetic substrates and coatings on non-magnetic substrates such as copper, aluminum, alloys, etc.

QuaNix4200/4500 Coating Thickness Gauge User Manual for Measurement
Place the instrument probe vertically on the surface of the object being measured, and the instrument will automatically turn on and measure data. Attention: When measuring, it is necessary to ensure that the probe is in vertical contact with the surface of the object being measured.

QuaNix4200/4500 Coating Thickness Gauge User Manual Zero Adjustment
Before measuring, the instrument should take the zero position on the substrate as a reference to reduce measurement errors. It can be used on the surface of uncoated workpieces or on substrates with accompanying instruments. Measure the substrate with an instrument, and if it shows 0, it indicates that it is already at zero position and does not need to be zeroed again. If 0 is not displayed, it needs to be zeroed. Press the instrument probe onto the zeroing plate or unpainted surface of the workpiece, do not lift it up, press the red button on the instrument to release it, and when you hear a sound, the LCD displays a set of numbers. Remove the instrument, and when you hear the sound again, the LCD displays 0, indicating that zeroing is complete. Attention: Due to the surface roughness of the workpiece, it is normal that the zero position may not be excellent when measured again after zero adjustment.

QuaNix4200/4500 Coating Thickness Gauge User Manual Fe/NFT Probe Conversion
QuaNix4500 is a dual-purpose probe that requires conversion between magnetic mode (Fe) and non-magnetic mode (NFe) when measuring different substrates. In the power on state, press the red key to enter the menu options. Continue to press the red key to select the Fe or Nfe option. After a brief pause, the corresponding measurement mode has been selected. Alternatively, you can select the FeNfe option and briefly pause to enter the automatic recognition matrix mode (recommended)!
The 'Average' option is available in the menu. After a brief pause in the 'Average' option, two options, ON and OFF, appear. After a brief pause in the 'ON' option, the average measurement mode is entered, and the displayed reading during measurement is the average of the last three readings. After a brief pause in the 'OFF' option, the average measurement mode is exited.

display
Fe: Measurement of ferromagnetic matrix mode
NFe: Measuring Non Magnetic Matrix Modes
Err: Operational error
INFI: Probe mode does not match the measured substrate
BAT: Low battery, battery needs to be replaced

QuaNix4200/4500 Coating Thickness Gauge User Manual Maintenance and Repair
The QuaNix4200/4500 thickness gauge adopts advanced electronic technology, which can
Meet various measurement requirements. The high-precision equipment, sturdy structure, and ease of use make this instrument widely applicable. As long as it is used and maintained correctly, its lifespan will be very long. The instrument needs to be kept clean, not dropped, and avoid contact with moisture, chemically corrosive substances or gases. After use, the instrument should be placed back in a protective and easy to move box. The drastic changes in temperature will affect the measurement results, so do not directly expose the instrument to strong sunlight or energy that can cause temperature fusion. The instrument is resistant to most solvents, but cannot guarantee corrosion from a very small number of chemicals. In this case, the only solution is to wipe the instrument with a damp, soft cloth. Only by keeping the probe clean can accurate data be obtained, so it is necessary to regularly check the probe and clean any residual dirt such as paint on it. When the instrument is not used for a long time, to avoid damage due to leakage, the battery should be removed. When a malfunction occurs, please do not repair it yourself. Our repair department is always dedicated to serving you.

User Manual for QuaNix4200/4500 Coating Thickness GaugePrecautions
Measurement should be point contact, and it is strictly prohibited to place the probe on the surface of the object being measured and slide it.
The interval between each measurement should be greater than a few seconds, and the instrument should be at least 10cm away from the object being measured before proceeding to the next measurement.
