principle

The true density test adopts the "gas displacement method" - applying the Archimedes principle - gas expansion displacement method, using the Bohr's law (PV=nRT) of small molecule inert gases (helium or nitrogen) under certain conditions, to calculate the true volume of the measured sample and analyze its true density by measuring the decrease in gas volume caused by the sample being placed in the test chamber.

  • Test method: Collect the pressure P1 and volume V1 of the reference chamber and record them; Place a sample with an unknown volume V into a test chamber with a known volume V2, inject gas into the test chamber and record the stable pressure P2; connect the test chamber to the reference chamber and record the stable pressure P3. Based on the equilibrium stable pressure value and the known volumes V1 and V2, calculate the volume V of the sample to be tested, and then calculate the true density of the sample from its mass and volume.
