Overview

Gallium arsenide (GaAs) crystals have good chemical stability, high hardness, and resistance to harsh environments. It has good transmittance in the spectral range of 2000nm-14000nm and is widely used in thermal infrared imaging systems, high-power CO2 laser optical systems, and FLIR systems. In poor on-site environments where optical lenses and windows need to be repeatedly wiped, gallium arsenide is often used as a substitute for zinc selenide as the material for infrared lenses or windows.
