At present, WindSonic from Gill, a British company, is an economical alternative to traditional wind cup/vane/propeller wind speed and direction sensors. It combines Gill's expertise in ultrasonic manufacturing and is based on existing, highly successful, and proven ultrasonic technology. WindSonic is ideal for wind speed and direction sensor applications that require consideration of economy, suitable for both land and marine environments. Unlike traditional fragile wind cups/wind indicators/propeller wind speed and direction sensors, WindSonic is lightweight and its sturdy high-strength structural design eliminates the need to worry about damage during installation and use. In addition, it does not require expensive on-site calibration or maintenance, and its corrosion-resistant outer surface makes it a truly "worry free" device after installation. WindSonic has flexible design and can easily set the measurement information required by users. In conjunction with specialized software, users can choose their desired output rate and measurement units. To ensure the accuracy and reliability of WindSonic, it will output a status code at the same time as each output message to display its working status.
WindSonic has four different options for digital and analog output functions.
WindSonic requires no maintenance and can be installed quickly and easily on a standard pole accessory (purchased separately). Each WindSonic comes with screw fittings, an ocean grade adapter, and a detailed user manual.
