Working Principle:

Using Archimedes' principle - gas expansion displacement method, small molecule inert gas (He or N2) is used as the medium, and the ideal gas state equation: PV=nRT is used to calculate the volume of gas displaced by the sample in the test chamber, so as to accurately measure the skeleton volume of the sample (including closed pores), and then calculate the true density value based on the density equation: ρ=M/V.

The gas expansion displacement method replaces liquid with gas to measure the volume of the sample displaced. This method can avoid testing errors caused by sample dissolution in immersion methods and has the advantage of not damaging the sample. Because gas can penetrate the extremely small pores and irregular pores on the surface of the sample, the measured sample volume is closer to the true volume of the sample, which can be used to calculate the density of the sample, and the test value is also closer to the true density of the sample.
