Any substance that can release heat through combustion can be measured using this instrument to determine the amount of heat it releases. The basic method is to burn a certain mass of standard substance with known combustion heat value in the oxygen bomb of a calorimeter, measure the temperature change during the combustion process, and obtain the heat absorbed by the instrument system per unit temperature increase. This completes the calibration of the instrument (similar to calibrating a chromatograph with a standard solution). The form of energy release during the combustion process of a standard substance is to raise the temperature of the instrument system. The temperature difference caused by the heat generated by its combustion characterizes the energy level of the substance. By dividing the known calorific value of the standard substance by the temperature change of the system after combustion (temperature difference), the amount of heat absorbed by the instrument system per unit temperature increase can be obtained. Then put the substance with the measured calorific value into the instrument for combustion, and the released heat is automatically recorded and calculated based on the measured temperature difference. Thus obtaining the calorific value per unit mass of the tested substance.
