Overview

The core material of Q235 cold drawn round steel is 45 carbon structural steel (GB/T 699 standard), and "cold drawing" refers to the processing technology used, rather than the material itself. The material and process characteristics of Q235 are as follows: Q235 is a medium carbon steel with iron (Fe) as the matrix, containing about 0.42% -0.50% carbon (C), as well as a small amount of manganese (Mn 0.50% -0.80%), silicon (Si 0.17% -0.37%) and other elements. The content of harmful impurities such as sulfur (S) and phosphorus (P) is ≤ 0.035%.

Q235 cold drawn round steelThe core material is 45 carbon structural steel (GB/T 699 standard), and "cold drawing" refers to the processing technology used, rather than the material itself.

The material and process characteristics are as follows:

Material essence: 45 # steel is a medium carbon steel with iron (Fe) as the matrix, containing about 0.42% -0.50% carbon (C), as well as a small amount of manganese (Mn 0.50% -0.80%), silicon (Si 0.17% -0.37%) and other elements. The content of harmful impurities such as sulfur (S) and phosphorus (P) is ≤ 0.035%.

Core performance: When not heat-treated, the yield strength is about 225MPa, the tensile strength is about 600MPa, and it has high strength and hardness. Its plasticity and toughness are slightly lower than low carbon steel (such as Q235), but its mechanical properties can be further improved through heat treatment such as quenching and tempering. It is suitable for manufacturing mechanical parts that require certain strength and wear resistance.

The impact of the "cold drawing" process: Cold drawing is the process of forming hot-rolled round steel by drawing it through a mold at room temperature. This process causes plastic deformation of the steel, further improving its surface smoothness, dimensional accuracy (with small tolerances), tensile strength, and hardness. However, it reduces plasticity and toughness, and may generate residual stress internally. If necessary, stress relief annealing treatment is required.
