Installation and Usage
Installation: It is usually fixed on the top of the cab, in open and unobstructed areas such as flybridges, to ensure that the hydrostatic pressure release device can work properly.
Maintenance: Regular (usually annual) functional testing is required, and the battery must be replaced every 5 years to ensure battery life.
Attention: Only for use in emergency situations. Mislaunch will result in legal liability and waste of search and rescue resources.

1、 Monthly self inspection (crew self inspection)
Visual inspection
The shell has no cracks, deformation, or fading
The hydrostatic pressure release unit (HRU) is undamaged and shows no signs of seawater immersion
The fixed bracket is firm, and the zip ties/seals are intact
Clear identification: identification code, expiration date, operating instructions
Function self check (key)
Open the protective cover of the position indicator
Find the TEST self-test button
Press and hold the TEST button for 2-3 seconds, then release it
Observe the indicator light:
Green/yellow flashing=normal
Red light always on/not on=malfunction, needs to be reported for repair
Reset after self check
Confirm that the device has returned to standby mode
Cover the protective cover and restore it to its original position
Attention: The self check time is very short and will not emit real distress signals. Please operate with confidence.
2、 Annual inspection (professional/ship inspection)
Complete appearance and fixed system inspection
Complete self check+battery voltage detection
Check the validity period of the hydrostatic pressure release unit (HRU)
GPS positioning function test
Record the testing date and results, and attach inspection labels
3、 5-year mandatory replacement (very important)
The FT-8200 battery has a validity period of 5 years, and upon expiration, it must:
Return to factory/authorize service provider to replace battery
Simultaneously conducting comprehensive performance calibration
Re attach expiration label
Hydrostatic pressure release units (HRUs) are usually replaced every 2 or 3 years, depending on the label.
4、 Daily storage and protection
Installed in an open, unobstructed, and easily accessible location
Avoid exposure to direct sunlight, high temperatures, and chemical corrosion
It is strictly prohibited to dismantle or open the main body seal at will
Children/unrelated personnel are strictly prohibited from touching
It is strictly prohibited to start in non distress situations, and false alarms are illegal
5、 Simple fault diagnosis
Self check does not light up: battery failure/poor contact
Self check red light alarm: circuit/GPS malfunction
Shell cracking and water ingress: stop immediately and report for repair
HRU damaged or expired: replace immediately

Core functions and working principles
Dual frequency signal transmission
406.040MHz: Send distress signals with location information to the COSPAS-SARSAT international satellite search and rescue system to achieve global coverage and precise positioning.
121.5MHz: Transmit aviation distress signals to guide nearby aircraft and ships for on-site search and rescue.
Startup method
Automatic start: Equipped with a static water pressure release device, the ship will automatically detach from the support when it sinks to a depth of 2-4 meters, and start firing after surfacing.
Manual start: In emergency situations, the switch can be manually removed and turned on to immediately emit a signal.
Built in GPS: Integrated 50 channel GPS receiver, positioning accuracy ≤ 15 meters, cold start capture time ≤ 32 seconds, greatly improving rescue efficiency.
