Dumbbell cutters for material analysis, rubber and plastic cables Dumbbell cutter maintenance:
1. Dumbbell cutters should be regularly maintained and serviced for their cutting edges, as blunting, chipping, or curling edges can cause defects in the specimen and affect the test results. When the cutting blade is not in use, the cutting edge should be placed on a soft sponge or kept out of contact with any surface;
2. The cutting blade should be stored in a dry environment and coated with protective oil to prevent corrosion;
3. When using, the cutting edge should be protected by placing a suitable soft and hard tape or high-quality cardboard underneath the sample to protect the cutting edge from damage. The cutting edge should be regularly ground to maintain sharpness;
4. Cutting lubrication: Use diluted detergent to lubricate the cutting blade or sample surface. After using lubricant, pay attention to drying the metal surface to prevent rusting of the cutting edge.
Note: The maintenance of the dumbbell cutting edge is very important. The cutting edge can be lightly ground and trimmed with a grinding stone, and the condition of the cutting edge can be evaluated by testing the fracture point of the sample after a series of experiments. When removing the fractured specimen from the clamp of the testing machine, check whether there is a tendency for the specimen to fracture at or near the same point. If there is such a tendency, it indicates that the cutting edge may become dull, have a notch, or curl at this specific location.
