A dryer is a container made of thick glass that keeps reagents dry. Its upper part is a lid with a grinding mouth (coated with a thin and uniform layer of Vaseline), and there is a movable porcelain plate with holes in the middle. Dry desiccants such as calcium chloride or silica gel are placed under the porcelain plate, and containers containing reagents that need to be dried are placed on the porcelain plate.

When turning on the dryer, hold the lower part with your left hand and the dome on the lid with your right hand, and push the lid horizontally towards the left front. After removing the lid, it should be placed in a safe place on the table (note to grind the mouth upwards and the dome downwards). Place or remove objects such as crucibles or weighing bottles with your left hand, and promptly cover the dryer lid. When covering, you should also hold the dome of the lid and push it horizontally to cover it. When moving the dryer, use both thumbs to simultaneously hold down the lid to prevent it from slipping and breaking. When placing crucibles or weighing bottles into the dryer, they should be placed inside the circular holes of the porcelain plate. But if the weighing bottle is smaller than the circular hole, it should be placed on a porcelain plate. Objects with high temperatures must be cooled to room temperature or slightly above before being placed in a dryer.
