CT adult and child dose phantom is a precision instrument designed specifically for radiation dose detection and quality control of computed tomography equipment. It is made of high-purity radiation therapy grade PMMA material (physical density 1.18-1.19g/cm3) and is precision processed. Its tissue equivalent characteristics match the simulated absorption and scattering behavior of the human body towards X-rays. This model offers two specifications for adults and children: an adult head model with a diameter of 160mm and a body model with a diameter of 320mm, and a child head model with a diameter of 100mm and a body model with a diameter of 160mm, both with a height of 150mm. The nested structure design balances storage convenience and multi scene adaptation requirements. The surface of the mold is equipped with standardized probe sockets, with the center hole and the surrounding four holes symmetrically distributed at a 90 degree angle (aperture 13.1mm). It supports simultaneous insertion into the CT ionization chamber for multi-point synchronous measurement of C (CT dose index), and is matched with PMMA plugs of the same material to ensure the sealing of unused hole positions. The total weight of the adult head and body phantom is about 20kg, and the portable aluminum alloy instrument box is equipped with a cushioning sponge to ensure transportation safety. This device strictly follows international standards such as FDA 21 CFR 1020.33 and IEC 61223, and is compatible with all brands of CT scanners. By measuring core parameters such as Cw weighted index and DLP dose length product, it provides radiation safety assessment basis for radiation healthcare institutions. In clinical applications, technicians place the phantom on the central axis of the scanning bed, select corresponding specifications based on the detection site, quantify radiation exposure data through a dosimeter, and optimize scanning parameters such as tube voltage, current, and layer thickness to reduce radiation risks to sensitive organs in children and key tissues in adults. At the same time, the phantom supports equipment acceptance testing, annual calibration, and stability monitoring. By comparing the dose output differences of multiple brands of CT equipment, a standardized quality control process is established to ensure the comparability and diagnostic reliability of imaging results. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention, third-party testing institutions, and radiology departments can use this equipment to conduct wide beam dose assessment in spiral scanning mode, and simulate scattered radiation according to the TG111 reporting method, providing data support for checking indoor and outdoor protective measures.
