Overview

Capacitive proximity switch is a device with the ability to sense object proximity. It uses displacement sensors to recognize the proximity of approaching objects and outputs corresponding switch signals. Therefore, proximity sensors are commonly referred to as proximity switches. Proximity switch is a general term for sensors that replace contact based detection methods such as switches and aim to detect the movement and presence of objects without the need for contact. It can detect the movement and presence of objects and convert them into electrical signals.

Working Principle:

Capacitive proximity switchIt also belongs to a type of position sensor with switch output. Firstly, the capacitance between the sensing surface electrode of the sensor and the potential electrode of the circuit needs to be measured. A close object affects the electric field between the two poles of this capacitor. This principle applies not only to metallic objects, but also to non-metallic objects. Capacitive proximity sensors typically operate through an RC oscillator, and even a small change in capacitance can affect their amplitude. Then the integrated circuit converts the amplitude into a switch signal, and its sensitivity can be adjusted through a potentiometer.
