COUPOSCOPE CMS2 STEP Coulomb thickness gauge
The principle and function of the Fischer Coulomb thickness gauge COUPOSCOPE CMS2 STEP technology
The Coulomb method is based on the principle of anodic dissolution (in accordance with DIN EN ISO 2177 standard), which involves electrolytically peeling off the coating and recording the current time curve, combined with Faraday's law to calculate the thickness. This method is applicable to single-layer or multi-layer coatings on metal or non-metal substrates (such as ABS plastic), with a measurement range of 0.05-50 μ m.
The STEP testing function supports standardized STEP testing (ASTM B764-04 and DIN EN 16866), which can simultaneously measure the thickness and interlayer potential difference of multi-layer nickel coatings to evaluate their corrosion resistance. Real time monitoring of voltage changes through silver reference electrodes automatically generates potential thickness curves, and users can manually mark potential transition points to distinguish between layers.
Built in nearly 100 predefined applications for multi scenario adaptability, covering common coating combinations (such as galvanizing on iron and nickel plating on brass), and supporting custom parameters (electrolysis speed 0.1-50 μ m/min, measurement area 0.6-3.2mm ²). Can be paired with V18 or V27 measuring brackets to achieve semi-automatic measurement of samples with different shapes such as wires and PCB boards.
