Overview
Ba/Ag/H-type ion chromatography pretreatment column 2.5CC removes high concentrations of chloride ions and sulfate ions from environmental and food samples
Product Details
  Ba/Ag/H-type ion chromatography pretreatment column 2.5CC
1. Activation and usage steps of common pre-treatment columns
1.1 RP column, P column, and C18 column
(1) Extract 5mL of chromatographically pure CH3OH using a disposable syringe and push it into the RP column at a flow rate of approximately 2mL/min;
(2) Extract 10mL of secondary deionized water using a disposable syringe and push it into the RP column at a flow rate of approximately 2mL/min;
(3) RP, P, and C18 columns were left to stand flat for 20 minutes to ensure their full activation;
(4) Extract the sample solution with a disposable syringe, push it into the RP column at a flow rate of about 2mL/min, and discard the first 3mL;
(5) Collect the remaining liquid and combine it with a needle filter to directly enter ion chromatography for analysis, or transfer it to a sample bottle and perform injection analysis through an automatic sampler.
(6) In principle, RP and C18 pre-treatment columns are disposable, but in order to save costs, they can be activated and regenerated for reuse. The method of regeneration is to repeat steps (1) and (2) for regeneration. Generally, one RP column can be regenerated 5 times.
1.2 H 柱、Na柱、Ba柱、Ag柱、Ag/Na柱、Ag/H柱及 Ba/Ag/H 柱
(1) Extract 10mL of deionized water with a disposable syringe and push it through the small column at a flow rate of approximately 2mL/min;
(2) The small column is left to stand flat for 20 minutes to fully activate;
(3) Extract the sample solution with a disposable syringe, push it into the small column at a flow rate of about 2mL/min, and discard the first 3mL;
(4) Collect the remaining liquid and combine it with a needle filter to directly enter ion chromatography for analysis, or transfer it to a sample bottle and perform injection analysis through an automatic sampler.
2 Precautions:
(1)H柱、Na柱、Ba柱、Ag柱、Ag/Na柱、Ag/H柱及 Ba/Ag/H 柱均不能再生;
(2) When using Ag columns, they should be combined with H or Na columns for better results;
(3) Ag column, Ag/H column, and Ag/Na column are used to remove chloride ions from the sample solution. When the small column adsorbs chloride ions, the filler part that adsorbs chloride ions will turn black. When the black color of the filler extends to 2/3, it is not recommended to reuse it. When reusing, extract 20mL of deionized water with a disposable syringe at intervals and push it through the small column at a flow rate of about 2mL/min for cleaning to avoid cross contamination;
(4) When activating and cleaning the small column, it is necessary to ensure that the liquid is vertically pushed into the column from the syringe, and it must be left to stand for 20 minutes;
(5) The default specification for the cleaning method in 1 is 1cc. The activation and cleaning solution for the 2.5cc pre-treatment column must be 2.5 times that of the 1cc specification;
(6) Due to the use of macroporous resin in our company, gaps may appear after a period of time, which is a normal phenomenon and will not affect the effectiveness of use. When in use, it can be restored to its full state after activation with cleaning solution.
(7) Instructions for using Ba column and Ba/Ag/H column
In order to better precipitate SO42-, it is necessary to add 100 mg/L CaCl2 or MgCl2 to the sample. In the experiment, it was found that if SO42- is directly passed through a column after adding SO42- to pure water, the removal effect of SO42- after passing through the column is not good. The reason is that the prepared sample lacks other divalent cations (such as Ca2+, Mg2+, etc.), which leads to poor precipitation of SO42- by Ba2+. But if other divalent cations are added before passing through the column, the removal effect of SO42- will be improved, and basically 80% to 90% of SO42- can be removed. However, the water quality varies greatly in different regions. If it is found in actual sample testing that the removal effect of SO42- after passing through the column is not ideal, and the content of divalent cations in the water sample is relatively low, it is recommended to add a certain concentration of Ca2+or Mg2+to the water sample before passing through the Ba column to improve the precipitation rate of BaSO4.
