BALLUFF sensor BES M12MI-PSC40B-S04GProduct Details
Working principle of inductive sensor
The inductive sensor structure has four basic components, namely coil, oscillator, trigger circuit, and output terminal. Advantages of Inductive Sensors
Inductive sensors form a high-frequency field with the help of an oscillator; The coil radiates this field at the sensor end, thereby forming a sensing field. When a metal object enters the sensing field, eddy currents are introduced into it, thereby reducing the energy emitted by the oscillator. When the energy drops low enough, the oscillator will stop oscillating. When the triggering circuit senses the oscillation to stop, it will change the state of the output switch device.
The closer the metal object is to the sensor end, the lower the oscillation amplitude, and the farther it is away, the greater the amplitude. Essentially, this is the working principle of inductive sensors.
Advantages of Inductive Sensors
① Suitable for use in unclean environments, not affected by moisture or dust;
② No moving parts, i.e. no mechanical wear and tear;
③ Compared with other sensing technologies, it has lower dependence on the surface;
④ No blind spots;
⑤ Detection does not depend on color
Precautions for Inductive Sensors
Inductive sensors only sense metal objects.
Application of Inductive Sensors
① Assembly line
② Machine tool
③ Metal detection of substances/objects
④ Parts classification
⑤ Identify black and non-ferrous metals (for ferrous selective sensors only)
