4Operation requirements

Test environment requirements:Ambient temperature-5℃-30 ℃,Relative humidity:≤85%.

Power requirementsSupply voltage:220V+ 10%、50HZ, Power: 100W.

Gas source requirements:Gas source: liquefied petroleum gas.Note: The gas source and connection head should be provided by the user themselves

Experimental principle:Clamp the sample horizontallyOn the U-shaped bracket, ignite the free end of the specimen with a flame of a specified height in the combustion chamber for 15 seconds to determine whether or when the flame on the specimen will extinguish, as well as the distance and time required for the specimen to burn at that distance.

Box structure:It includes three parts: combustion chamber, fume hood, and integrated control. The combustion chamber is built into the fume hood, and the fume hood and integrated control are designed as one unit.

Internal structure:burnThe burning box is placed inside a fume hood, and the internal volume of the fume hood is equal to the volume of the combustion box20-110 times, and the length, width, and height of the fume hood shall not exceed 2.5 times the length, width, or height of either of the other two dimensions.

Sample requirements:

The shape and size of the standard specimen are shown in the following figure, and the thickness of the specimen is the thickness of the part, but not exceeding13mm。

1.When comparing the combustion performance of different types of materials, the samples must have the same size (length, width, thickness). Usually, when sampling, the sample must have the same cross-section along its entire length.

2.When the shape and size of the part are not sufficient to produce a standard sample of the specified size, the following minimum size samples should be ensured but recorded.

3.If the width of the part is betweenBetween 3mm and 60mm, the length should be at least 356mm. In this case, the sample should be made as close as possible to the width of the part.

4.If the width of the part is greater than60mm, The length should be at least 138mm, and the possible burning distance at this time is equivalent to the distance from the first marking to the extinguishing of the flame, or the distance from the first marking to the end of the specimen.

5.If the width of the part is betweenIf the length is less than 356mm between 3mm and 60mm, or if the width of the part is greater than 60mm but the length is less than 138mm, it cannot be tested according to this standard. Samples with a width less than 3mm cannot also be tested according to this standard.

Sampling requirements:

At least five samples should be taken from the tested parts. If there are materials with different combustion rates along different directions, samples should be taken in different directions, and five (or more) samples should be tested separately in the combustion chamber. The sampling method is as follows:

(1)When the material is supplied in full width, it should be cut to include the full width and the length should be at leastTake a 500mm sample and cut off the material 100mm away from the edge, then take equidistant and uniform samples from each other on the remaining parts

(2)If the shape and size of the part meet the sampling requirements, the sample should be taken from the part

(3)If the shape and size of the part do not meet the sampling requirements and must be tested according to this standard, the same material can be usedStandard samples with the same material, process, manufacturing structure, and parts(365mm × 100mm), with the minimum thickness of the part taken and not exceeding 13mm for testing. The test results cannot be used for identification, certification, etc., and the sample preparation situation must be indicated in the test report.

(4)If the thickness of the part is greater than13mm, Apply mechanical methods to cut from the non exposed surface, resulting in a sample thickness of 13mm including the exposed surface.

(5)If the thickness of the parts is uneven and consistent, mechanical methods should be used to cut from the non exposed surface to make the thickness of the parts uniform to the minimum part thickness.

(6)If the bent part cannot produce a flat sample, the flat part should be taken as much as possible, and the arch height of the sample should not exceed13mm, If the arch height of the sample exceeds 13mm, a standard sample (365mm × 100mm) with the same material and process as the structure and parts must be used for testing, with the minimum thickness of the part taken and not exceeding 13mm.

(7)Layered composite materials should be tested for a single material using the same sampling method as above

(8)If the material is composed of several layers stacked together but does not belong to laminated composite materials, it should start from the exposed surfaceAll individual materials within 13mm thickness shall be sampled and tested separately. The sampling example is shown in the following figure.

As shown in the figure, the materialThe interface between material A and material B is not bonded. Material A is tested separately, while material B has a thickness of less than 13mm and is tightly bonded to material C. Therefore, materials B and C should be used as laminated composite materials, and 13mm should be cut for testing.

Experimental procedure:

1. Take out the pre treated sample, place the sample with surface fuzz or tufting on a flat table, use a comb to comb the fuzz surface twice along the fuzz direction, and place the exposed surface downwards on the sample holder (when the length of the sample is less than the specified size, the sample should be placed in the middle of the metal mesh on the sample holder).

2. Connect the power and gas sources, and set the flame application time Ta to 15 seconds.

3. Press and hold the ignition key, the gas valve opens, and the top of the lamp mouth starts to ignite. After lighting the Bunsen burner, adjust the nut at the bottom of the Bunsen burner, close the air inlet of the Bunsen burner, adjust the flame height to 38mm, burn steadily for at least 1min before the experiment, and close the combustion chamber door. Push the sample clamp

Enter the combustion chamber.

After igniting the free end of the sample in the flame for 15 seconds, the gas valve will automatically close.

5. Observe the moment when the root of the flame passes through the first measurement point and press the timer button, paying attention to the propagation of the flame on the faster burning side and the condition of the molten material during combustion.

6. When the flame reaches the final measurement point or goes out halfway, press the timer button again. If the flame goes out halfway, the burning distance should be measured. The burning distance refers to the part of the sample surface or interior that has been burned or damaged. And fill in the data in the length digit position, simply click on the value to modify it.

7. The instrument will automatically calculate the combustion rate based on the combustion time and length

If the sample cannot burn after 15 seconds of contact with the flame, or if the flame has already extinguished before reaching the first measurement point and there is no time to record, then its combustion rate is recorded as 0mm/min. After the experiment is completed, the power and gas sources should be turned off, and necessary maintenance should be carried out on the sample holder of the combustion chamber.

9. After completing 5 samples in sequence, the instrument will automatically pop up the save interface, or you can press the save button to save the test results before completing the 5 samples.

10. All saved test results can be queried in historical data

Conversion formula :

Burning speed(V) Calculate according to the following formula,

V=60×(L/T)

in the formulaV is the combustion rate, measured in millimeters per minute (mm/min).

L is the combustion distance, measured in millimeters (mm)

T is the time taken for the combustion distance L, measured in seconds

The maximum combustion rate of five or more samples measured shall be taken as the test result.

If you are considering choosing strict implementationThe products corresponding to GB8410-2006 should be notedRequirements in 4.2.9. GB8410-2006Automotive Interior MaterialsofburncharacteristicHow to translatemiddle4.2.9 It is required that the combustion chamber should be placed inside a fume hood, with an internal volume of 20-110 times the volume of the combustion chamber, and the length, width, and height of the fume hood should not exceed 2.5 times the size of either of the other two dimensions. The QCS-3 standard model can meet the above requirements. The vertical velocity of the side beam air flowing through the fume hood at 100mm before and after the final position of the combustion chamber should be between 0.10m/s-0.30m/s(If this requirement needs to be met, it is necessary to select the

17 Wind speed control/testing device

)GB8410-2006 only requires the use of steel plates for the combustion chamber, while the QCS-3 instrument combustion chamber is made of stainless steel material, which has higher durability than the standard requirements.1050GB8410-2006 requires the combustion chamber to be placed in a fume hood with a volume of 20-110 times that of the combustion chamber,640The combustion chamber size of QCS-3 instrument is 385 * 204 * 360mm, and the size of the fume hood is300mm×mm×1mmActual fume hood

3.The volume is approximately equal to the volume of the combustion chamber
