The Ascentis Express phenyl liquid chromatography column exhibits unique selectivity for the Phenyl Hexyl stationary phase due to the interaction between the solute and the aromatic ring of the bonded phase, as well as its delocalized electrons. This unique aromatic selectivity makes it complementary (orthogonal) to C18 and RP amide fixation. =For solutes with aromatic electron withdrawing groups (fluorine, nitro, etc.) or delocalized heterocyclic systems (such as benzodiazepines), they usually have stronger retention and selectivity.

Due to the interaction between the solute and the aromatic ring of the bonded phase, as well as its delocalized electrons, the Phenyl Hexyl stationary phase exhibits unique selectivity. This unique aromatic selectivity makes it complementary (orthogonal) to C18 and RP amide fixation. Phenyl Hexyl stationary phases also tend to have good shape selectivity, which may be due to the multi-point interactions between solutes and planar ring systems. For solutes with aromatic electron withdrawing groups (fluorine, nitro, etc.) or delocalized heterocyclic systems (such as benzodiazepines), they usually have stronger retention and selectivity.
