Based on the big data platform, early warning and detection of harmful algal blooms can be achieved, with a focus on prevention. Planktonic algae produce live fluorescence under excitation light, and the differences in pigment composition within cells of different species of phytoplankton form the material basis for the characteristic live fluorescence of algae. Based on this, a live detection method for phytoplankton has been developed. The photosynthetic pigments contained in algal communities are complex, and numerous photosynthetic pigments are used as indicators for algal species identification. Among them, chlorophyll, with its wide distribution and relatively high concentration compared to other photosynthetic pigments, is often used as the main indicator for identifying fluorescence.
The fluorescence of algal pigments is influenced by many factors such as the excitation intensity of the light source, the light acceptance rate of the photoreaction system, the light energy conversion efficiency, and the quantum yield. There are certain differences in the fluorescence produced by different types of algae. By measuring the fluorescence characteristics with instruments and characterizing them in the fluorescence spectrum, a fluorescence recognition and detection method based on the fluorescence spectrum of planktonic algae communities for different algae species has been developed.
