AOCS genetically modified plant standard substance

American Association of Oil Chemists (AOCS) genetically modified plant reference materialsIt is a material or substance with one or more sufficiently uniform and well-defined characteristics, used in the detection of genetically modified products to calibrate measuring devices, evaluate measuring methods, or assign values to materials. The international units that develop reference materials for genetically modified products mainly include the Institute for Reference Materials and Measurement (IRMM) under the Joint Research Centre of the European Union, the American Association of Oil Chemists (AOCS), and the National Food Research Institute (NFRI) in Japan. The American Association of Oil Chemists (AOCS) ensures the standardization of testing methods and promotes global trade by providing certified reference materials and hosting proficiency testing projects. AOCS produces standard substances in three forms: matrix, seed, and leaf DNA. The concentration gradient forms of the matrix standard substance and IRMM are different, while AOCS is in pure form. At present, there is only one standard substance for seed morphology, which is pure transgenic rapeseed RT73 and non transgenic rapeseed seeds. Leaf DNA is extracted from identified transgenic and non transgenic plant leaves, packaged, and the genomic DNA standard substance is also present in pure form.

The detection of genetically modified products can use nucleic acid or protein standard substances. The nucleic acid based genetically modified reference materials mainly include three forms:

1. Matrix reference material: A matrix reference material is a type of standard material that assigns values to a substance that has the same or similar matrix as the sample being tested. The reference material for genetically modified products is prepared from raw materials.

2. Genomic DNA reference material: The genomic DNA reference material for genetically modified products is extracted from the tissues (such as seeds and leaves) of both genetically modified and non genetically modified products, and prepared as a standard material for qualitative and quantitative detection of genetically modified products.

3. Plasmid DNA reference material: Plasmid DNA reference material refers to a linearized or circular plasmid DNA molecule containing specific sequence fragments of exogenous target genes and internal standard genes for transgenic detection. The ratio of the exogenous target gene to the internal standard gene sequence it contains is generally 1.
