Filter paper can generally be divided into qualitative and quantitative types. In the application of analytical chemistry, when inorganic compounds are separated into precipitates through filtration, the residual material collected on filter paper can be used to calculate the loss rate during the experimental process. Qualitative filter paper produces a significant amount of cotton fibers after filtration, making it only suitable for qualitative analysis; Quantitative filter paper, especially ash free grade filter paper, can effectively resist chemical reactions through special processing procedures, resulting in less impurities generated and can be used for quantitative analysis.
In experiments, filter paper is often used in conjunction with instruments such as filter funnels and Brinell funnels. Before use, the filter paper needs to be folded into a suitable shape. The common folding method is to fold the filter paper into a flower like shape. The higher the degree of folding of filter paper, the higher the surface area it can provide, and the better the filtering effect. However, it is important to be careful not to over fold and cause the filter paper to break. Place the drainage glass rod on multiple layers of filter paper with even force to avoid damaging the filter paper.
There are several main considerations when choosing filter paper:
1. The effective area is large, which means that the filter paper has a larger usage area, larger dust holding capacity, lower resistance, and longer service life. Of course, the cost also increases accordingly.
2. The finer the fiber diameter, the better the interception effect and correspondingly higher the filtration efficiency.
3. The adhesive content in the filter material is high, and the tensile strength of the paper is high, the filtration efficiency is high, the shedding phenomenon is less, the background dust of the filter material is small, and the resistance is good, but the resistance increases accordingly.

Product usage instructions:

2: Fold the stacked filter paper into three layers on one side and open the other layer to form a funnel shape.
3: Put the funnel-shaped filter paper into the funnel, with the edge of the filter paper lower than the edge of the funnel. Pour some clean water into the funnel mouth to make the soaked filter paper stick to the inner wall of the funnel, and then pour out the remaining clean water for later use.
4: Place the funnel with filter paper on the filtering funnel holder (such as the circular ring on the iron frame), place a beaker or test tube below the funnel neck to receive the filtered liquid, and adjust the funnel neck*Leaning against the wall of the receiving container.
5: When injecting the liquid to be filtered into the funnel, hold the beaker with your right hand and the glass rod with your left hand. The lower end of the glass rod should be tightly pressed against the lower surface of the three layers of the funnel, so that the cup mouth is tightly attached to the glass rod. Wait for the filtered liquid to flow out along the cup mouth, then tilt along the glass rod and flow into the funnel.
